I was wondering what michael Barrymore was doing now
“Alwight at the back”
the rumours he had his own pool cleaning company were found to be unfounded
I was trying to find the website for the Lighthouse cinema and came across this website for a north Dublin baptist church instead.

“The Bible is perfect – no mistakes or contradictions.” Well that clears that up then!
Awesome News!
How much are the Arts Council putting in this time?
Well it’s still going to be used for film classification; and it’ll be hosting part of the Dublin Film Festival as well. So there’s all sorts of kick-backs to avail of.
Fantastic story of a new business started during a recession, brilliant that they are creating new jobs, well done on bringing a defunct cinema back to life, best of luck to them
and on a completely shallow level, I LOVE those seats …
Great news. What else would they have used it for though?
Concert venue
Lecture hall
Assorted use of people gathering and sitting down while facing the front and to listen to one person talk at the front
Conference venue
Theatre
a camera shop and dr quirkeys extension? the same as the carlton on o’connell street. now there’s a sorry state for a wonderful cinema (and building) that is stuck in limbo between the carlton group and DCC.
The planning permission on the building specifically only allows the space to be used as an “art-house” cinema. Pretty cool.
Over here in London, there is a trend of turning old cinemas into giant bingo halls with giant multicolored signs on them saying “Mega Bingo” or some such.
What a terrible thing to do to a lovely building:

I forgot bingo hall
Casino
Pipe band practice area
Orange hall?
Bunsen burner type demo location??!
Brilliant news indeed but I hope they come up with a formula to somewhat distinguish themselves from the IFI and not become a copy of the latter, showing the same films but a tad later and for longer.
Indeed -…walk to IFI….underground parking at Lighthouse ….distinction.
There was more hype over the place closing than it re-opening. Why? Nobody likes arthouse.
Sad but true. Having the IFI within walking distance certainly doesn’t help. How many art-house cinemas does a city need?
7 dave. the answer is 7
The IFI is showing Warhorse, directed by Steven Spielberg. That ain’t no arthouse cinema anymore.
(they’d make excellent all weather squash courts…sorry)
