  1. He wore a suit and was not wearing turned down wellies; that would mark him out for victory in Kilkenny.

Can we coin the word tedesque? Ireland as a country now seems to be mimicing art in every stratum of society.

    This, this competition was tedesque.

    • I’m with this. This is just bizarre. I’m completely baffled. Perhaps it was a case of, they had a competition, they *had to* pick a winner, so… No, even so…

  2. From KP’s comments:
Hello from a George Clooney fansite. We saw your article and want to pass our congratulations to David Glendon on winning this competition. We were wondering what criteria were you using to judge the competition because although he’s a good looking man, he doesn’t look a whole lot like George Clooney . . .

  3. This is going to be one of those things that foreign media reports on and embarrasses us again isn’t it.

  4. From the KP article:
‘in the run up to the event entrants were asked to submit a photograph where they posed and dressed as the legendary actor’.
I can only guess he just sent in an actual photo of George as himself?

Even better that the full article mentiones ‘The 27-year-old, who is currently single’… which is such a shock given he bears such a striking resemblance to auld George…

  5. I was told there were 2 entrants, one for the George Clooney lookalike competition and one for the Rosemary Clooney lookalike competition.

  6. I would just like to say that it’s not entirely unusual for the organizers to win the raffle. In fact, there was one not so long ago where the organizers won. So lets not be surprised if the same happens here…

  7. I’m all for workplace equality legislation but all I’m saying is that this is what will keep happening if we continue to allow the blind work as lookalike competition judges

  8. Someone seriously needs to go to specsavers… What an ad for specsavers… The hack of him…

  9. Typical Kilkenny attention seeking… did ya ever see anything so useless. Christ almighty.
That ape Phil Hogan is as close to looking like George Clooney as anyone else in Kilkenny.

They should an ET lookalike competition. They’d be no argument over that winner.
(who’ll be the first to name him …. I can’t promise a tea cosy but how about a box of Barrys)
