  1. I swear, the amount of significant house/business fires that have occurred between Camden/Wexford/Aungier/George’s St in the last few years…..are the buildings safe?

    • No, chances are it’s the wiring. Some of these buildings haven’t had any work done to them in years and are a step away from collapsing!

      • Used to live in an old place on Wexford Street. The wiring in the whole building blew one night about 10 minutes before our party guests arrived.
When the ESB guys arrived (about 10 days later) the guy looking at it held a piece of wiring in his hand and said,

‘Jaysus, they haven’t used this stuff since the 50′s’.

      • Industrial.. Industrial?!

I studied the pictures carefully, once I figured none of my beloved mooching ‘charity shop run’ (Capel Street, up through Parliament Street, Dame Street, South Great Georges Street, all the way to Rathmines in a straight-ish line..) establishments were safe, I was happy.

  2. There’s been two fires above Eddie Rockets recently too.

Cookers and curtains are a bad combo.

A lot of buildings on Camden have been neglected due to their landlords who live elsewhere in nice houses ignoring the upkeep of them.

  3. all taken care off by 11.20 according to the IT. Dublin fire brigade really are quite good

    • 500 quid a call-out, you can see why people delay and try to fight the fire themselves. tragic.

      • Really? Id still call them straight away and claim the call out on my house insurance policy. like a lot of people would. even very cheap contents policies include at least one call a year. ( if you are a little lax with the matches and are a multiple fire starter, a twisted fire starter as such – then they will probably make you pay )
