Twitter Inc. has acknowledged that after mobile users tap the “Find friends” feature on its smartphone app, the company downloads users’ entire address book, including names, email addresses and phone numbers, and keeps the data on its servers for 18 months.

What is with the whole panic about evil corporations looking through your phone? I couldn’t care less. There are already Gardai looking at everyone’s text messages which we somehow think are private. If you’ve something to hide or you don’t want anyone to know about, then don’t put it in your phone. If you don’t want anyone ever to spy on what you’re browsing or reading or watching or listening to or shopping for, then don’t own a computer and never download anything from the Internet.
