THAT’S Not Clever Viral Marketing

THIS is clever viral marketing:

The crowd at TED got a glimpse into the upcoming Ridley Scott sci-fi film Prometheus on Tuesday, in the form of a video of a TEDTalk that takes place in 2023.

Although not a clip from the movie itself, the futuristic talk is given by Guy Pearce, who stars in the film, and offers some clues to the plotline. At one point, Pearce, who plays CEO of the fictitious Weyland Corporation in Prometheus, says, “At this moment in our civilization, we can create cybernetic individuals, who in just a few short years will be completely indistinguishable from us.”

There’s even an accompanying Weyland Industries website.

Meh. Too overly ominous… should be more company drone.. a creepy Bill Gates or Jobs… This is pretty silly.. doesn’t act AT ALL like the way people do at the TED talks. Yes, I know it’s the future, but in the future corporate drones will be even MORE faceless.

Have to agree. This turned me off completely. It is so unrealistic; badly written, badly acted and badly directed, and does not bode well for the movie.

Yep, not great. too dramatic. They should have made it more anodyne and non-descript. It would have added to the suspense. This just seems like a big blockbuster now.

Hopefully this footage is not in the movie and it doesn’t feature the actual production effects of the final release. The first trailer seemed to get the balance right between CGI and and physical effects, but this looks cheap and awful.
