    This is taking place to allow more pedestrian traffic flow through Clarendon Street during the repavement of Grafton Street, which is due to commence in January 2012.

      Makes sense, it looked like they were going to introduce tables and chairs like recent urban projects in NYC.

    The plants are to accommodate a Busker in the Bush initiative while Grafton Street is destroyed and rebuilt exactly the same but with drab grey paving and brushed steel. Death to the Georgians.
