On the intro to the arcade version of the game it was written as Death=Adder. It may be a mistake made during coding…but in Mullingar we knocked mighty craic out of shouting it as a taunt during that final boss battle.

Never saw a definitive spelling for beoir – we used to spell it bjure after Bjork. I think it might be derived from Cant, the travellers language.
