        Mrs Lynda Speers is not an employee now or at any time. Any real customer will know this, I only employ one full time member of staff in the picture, who was not allowed to enter.
        After Linda collected her prize, won fair and square, a small number of people took it upon themselves to ruin her good fortune and make comments claiming all was not right with the win. This was grossly unfair, and had Lynda crying her heart out during Sat, I tried to delete these people who seemed to be a vindictively harassing her. When Sunday evening came she contacted me again, very distraught, I was exhausted and needed to sleep for a few hours, so I offered to add her as an admin to delete posts that were unfairly taking shots at her. Instead Lynda, not realising that her post for the next for hours would appear as Skillens decided to answer rather than delete and hence to my surprise when I checked here late that evening, a total mess had started, when all I wanted to do was protect her from further nasty comments by inconsiderate people.
        Lynda won fair and square. She was not an existing customer and a total stranger. WE exchanged phone numbers and I asked her to let me know how she was enjoying the ring in the future.
        She is currently being cared for by family who fear for her health, that the stress of all this will cause a heart attack or the like.
        Lynda has had her moment of joy robbed from her from the moment she won by people who have been extremely mean
        This must stop, she is a very decent lady, and going thorugh a mini nervous breakdown it would seem, yet has done no wrong.
        Any existing customer knows my staff, and knows this is a witch hunt.
        This was to be the first of four give aways this year, which you all had a chance of winning. However in a few days time when people have had a chance to read this I shall remove the page as all it has done is cost me time money and heartache.
        It’s not hard to wish someone well, I ask you search your hearts and ask yourselves what if it had been me that won?

    • Ha! They claim they made her an admin of their page so she could delete the hurtful comments herself. But, someone pointed out that even if she was an admin it would be her name that still comes up, not to mention how stupid it is to make a ‘stranger’ admin of their business’s page..

      • I’m an admin of a few Facebook pages and my name doesn’t appear when I post to them. It depends on the settings. It’s still perfectly possible that the winner is an innocent victim in all of this, but the business should’ve known better either way.

      • that’s not correct. i’ve been admin on facebook pages and if you’ve clicked on that page and are editing (which she claims to have been) and comment on something then that comment registers as THEM and not you. if she was in her own page and made the comment then it would have appeared as HER.
        so it is actually possible. whether they are telling truth or not is another thing

        • I agree! I am admin of a facebook page also and when im on that page and commenting, though signed in under my own personal account, my name appears as the companies. The company would not have had to give any log in details just merely make her an administrator of the page itself. So their excuse does have some substance

        • I’ve never been an admin of a business so I’m not sure, but would you not have to be logged in as Skillens to post as Skillens?

          • No the page is merely affiliated with your own personal facebook profile. You set it up while signed in on your own profile and automatically become a member of it. You can then add people to be admin and they have posting rights also but no access to your personal page. Rather than ‘logging into’ the page as you would your own, you have the option to ‘Use Facebook as…’ under the wheel adjacent to the home tab. People are jumping to incorrect conclusions here in an attempt to fuel the witch hunt, though to be honest I actually dont give a f*uck

          • If you’re admin of a FB page you can choose how you post, comment or like. Either in your own name or in the name of the company.

Someone gets caught acting the complete and utter muppet (KPMG girl?) on the internet and rather than suggesting that people maybe should face the consequences of their own actions, someone calls cyber bullying, suicide risk or elevated chances of heart attack and suddenly they’re the victim. I’m with the internet on this one. Unleash the beast!

    • No such thing as bad publicity. This is even funnier than the biddy who called out the hotel for charging her husband “extra” for his stag party and then getting told by the hotel the charges were because he wrecked the room, brought a hooker back and punched the receptionist.

  21. I’m a long time reader, but have been motivated to post for the first time. As a neutral observer, it looks to me like this is a simple case of jealousy and Internet bullying. Lynda won that ring fair and square, now leave my cousin alone!!

  22. This is all terribly unfair. Linda won the competition fair and square & the shop was very clear about how she uses both hers & Skillens accounts on Facebook. Please be a bit more considerate, she’s now suffering from mild constipation and severe distress due to her unethical behavior.

    BTW, I have now connection with Skillens Jewelers, but thanks Aunty Linda for the new cufflinks!

  23. Ok so someone just won a free diamond ring, for doing nothing, for free! and a few internet strangers claimed the draw was a fix, which despite her fantastic win of a FREE expensive diamond ring she was distraught and crying her heart out and it might cause a “heart attack and the like”,

    none of this explanation makes any sense to a regular human person

      I can’t believe they are still trying to use the bullying line, utter nonsense i was online when it all kicked off the other night! no one was bullying anyone in fact as you can see from the screenshot someone had congratulated Lynda and asked how she won and she then made the ultimate BOO BOO (cleaned that up) lol and replied as Skillens after that the vast majority of the comment’s were directed at Skillens not Lynda … the next day i went on and stated “Lynda was not defending herself when she made the slip up as skillens she was thanking someone for congratulating her, i was subsequently blocked and my comment deleted LOL

    I also draw your attention to facebook rules “you shall not bully intimidate or harrass any facebook member”.

    • How fortunate that out of 9000 entries to a competition on facebook; a competition that undoubtedly had entries from all over Ireland, the UK or even the world, they randomly selected one winner who just happened to have many friends in the Skillen family and was available to drop into the shop to have her picture taken…

      That’s some pretty effective random marketing.
