I’d have more of an issue with them stopping people with their own placards (RTÉ is anti-catholic etc). They’ve no right to be stopping anyone marching on a public street.

Shouldn’t there be an issue with this though? This is Ireland, not America. I’d love to see a breakdown of the demographics because what we’re looking for is a clear and accurate understanding of the viewpoints of the citizens of Ireland. Bringing all these other people into the mix does nothing except confuse things.

So we’re letting Americans conservatives decide what’s best for us as a nation? Christian conservatives are known around the world for their good judgement and responsible reactions.

“The only thing that can stop a bad foetus with a gun is a good foetus with a gun.”

So you’re saying that odious groups like YD aren’t funded by American Christian conservatives?

Or are you just defending the indefensible for the hell of it?

Dover is an excitable sort. Like a Red Setter. A few laps of the Phoenix Park should burn off all that nervous energy.

Yes, that’s exactly what I said. And I, for one, welcome our new American conservative overlords. I’d like to remind them that as a trusted internet gobshite spotter, I could be helpful in rounding up others to toil in their underground sugar caves.

          1. Mittens

Maybe time for one off the wrist again oriel, yet again you seem to be getting a little too excited about winning the internet.

The moment the right wing US nuts got involved with this sounded the death knell for the anti-choice, as Duyba said “bring em on” and we know how that ended.

well folks you wanna have seen the 9o’c news this evening….RTE painting things like it was the pope’s visit in 1979…played it as this vigil “attended by most of the country” V “a very small teeny tiny gathering at Merrion Square(?) by the pro-choicers”….many politicians taken aback bladhey blah….have to say optics of it all were a wee bit upsetting

….earlier this evening my mother outlaw, a very paid up member of the catholic club, came into the house as is usual on a Saturday evening and literally punched the air in all the hype….not nice to witness

PRO CHOICE WAKE UP!!! you might be on the side of right and disagree with their view to the core but remember how sneaky and clever these fckrs are….you’re busy setting up a nice little organisation there whilst a much bigger cleverer and obviously better funded network are busy…very very busy indeed…..as abhorrent as a zealot might be to you never underestimate them as they will go to lengths you’ve never even dreamed up yet to get what THEY think is right for YOU.

you don’t need major funding from dark forces and fancy fckn billboards to get out on the street….you just get out on the street!!! Pro Choicer’s you need to get their ass in fckn gear and put 100,000 people outside Kildare St…..a nice round number that cannot be denied or misreported by RTE and will get reported on the BBC and worldwide.

on the optics ye got creamed tonight, 2-0 at halftime to the anti-choice league

    1. Scared Vagina

You seem to have a very good idea of what the pro choice movement should be doing. I wonder, were you at the meeting today? No? Why not?

    2. Timmy

Please note, if you are anti abortion/pro life doesn’t necessarily mean you are a right wing catholic nut. I know many atheists who are anti abortion.

      Bellweather-
      issues? nah…
as for her (don’t get me started on the Les Dawson quips)…
I’ve had to watch and listen to her and her deny deny deny on Savita over the past weeks…the punching of the air thing tonight had me heaving inside

      Sacred Vag-
I had no idea there was any demo organised for today and in fact only learned of it on the same 9o’c news….I’m just making observation in what I say above

If it’s any consolation, elderly female relatives being incredibly annoying in a triumphalist Catholic way is a long-held Irish tradition. Anyone remember that bit of Portrait of the Artist as a Young Man?

    1. Who cares if their flights were funded by Middle American Fundamentalists… Its money coming into our economy… Just consider it religious fanatical tourism.

    2. If anyone wants me to get involved in any campaigns in the Seychelles I take cheque or credit card.

    3. We are not thick, just don’t listen to their diatribe… Irish people can speak for themselves…

I actually think we should orgainise these events more regularly, it’d be great for the tourism industry.

On a semi-related note: what ever happened to those 3 American kids who were raising money to come over here on a ‘mission’?

    1. The Old Boy

I think their money ran out after an eight-day bender in the Chancery Inn and they are currently serving short sentences in the ‘joy for petty theft and drugs offences. Probably.

    1. ABM

He teaches heresy. And he likes being in the media. A dangerous fellow. If he thinks he knows better than his betters in Rome, then perhaps he should go off and set up his own church? That, or join one of the multitude of Protestant off-shoots — whichever one suits him best. Flannery seeks to mould the church to suit his own misguided views. Being a catholic means moulding yourself to the teachings of Jesus Christ. It’s not always popular to be pro-life and anti-homosexual behaviour (two examples of thorny issues), but if you don’t like it — tough.

I have no doubt that Flannery likes the comforts afforded to him by the laity; yet he doesn’t have the courage or maturity of his convictions to either admit he is wrong and conform, or leave.

Crimes against the faith are in a more serious bracket than sex abuse. Such crimes cannot and will not be tolerated.

“Crimes against the faith are in a more serious bracket than sex abuse. Such crimes cannot and will not be tolerated.”

Seriously? This is straight out of the inquisition. Like many others here, I would have dismissed you as a misguided troll. With this statement you’ve shown yourself to be, in actual fact, a total scumbag with no moral credibility.

Im pretty sure Christ (if he ever existed) would have considered child rape more serious than abstract, victimless ‘crimes against the faith’. Then again, what do I know, I havent been programmed for despicable moral doublethink.

      2. martco

think carefully and reflect ABM….no doubt Fr. Brendan Smyth and all his pals tuned in and can see and hear everything you say think and write in your little world there and will want to offer you a very special thanks when you ascend into your catholic club afterlife after that statement….hope you enjoy the pretty pink tutu he makes u wear while he’s thanking you scumbag fck

      3. droid

Hey ABM, I hope you can hold your breath:

Suffer the little children to come unto me and forbid them not, for of such is the kingdom of God. But whoso shall offend one of these little ones which believe in me, it were better for him that a millstone were hanged about his neck, and that he were drowned in the depth of the sea.

      4. Humans Eh!

“Crimes against the faith are in a more serious bracket than sex abuse. Such crimes cannot and will not be tolerated.”

‘The shroud of the Dark Side has fallen..’

ABM, the days of viewing you as a basic antagonising troll are over. With this frankly shocking and sickening comment you have shown your true colours and that of your vile masters.
Un-be-fu*king-lievable. You do realise that paedophilia and sexual abuse is facillitated and allowed to continue purely because of apologists and mind slaves to servitude like yourself. Sir you disgust me.

  6. Small Wonder

    +1

Sindo, the whole point of the pro-choice movement is that women are legally entitled to get the support they need at a very difficult time.

  7. alan

obviously if any non nationals show up at a pro choice rally, broadsheet and some of those sho left comments on here will feell exactly the same about that. No?? Didn’t think so. Smell the hypocrisy

    1. well

I suppose it would be hypocrisy if prochoice paid for their flights over to attend and support these rallies, but i doubt they could afford so many.

    1. Thinker

I have actually never come across a militant pro-choice person. It’s the ‘pro-life’ (LOL) that assassinate, threaten, and try to bomb abortion providers in the US

  8. Yeah Yeah Yeah

What an amazing video, fair play YD keep up the work, the pro aborts have no clue what so ever, your really getting under their skin now ha ha ha ha ha ha
