While rambling through the sprawling corridors of Cappagh Hospital [Finglas, Dublln] this plaster cast nightmare scared the bejesus out of me. Chained, as it was robbed before (must be interesting security footage somewhere), is it an obscure child slavery charity? Either way it must not pull in much money as the scary child is the more valued (via the crook-proof chain) and not the money box.

Polio charities?
Been in a cellar for the last few decades? They’ve been around for ever.
that used to be a real child but she was left there for so long she turned to plaster.
Orthopaedic Hospital how are ye……….she’ll never learn to walk with that chain around her neck!
if only we could that with real children.
Don’t blink!
Spit of Imelda May so it is.
Nah…. Imelda May couldn’t spit that.
That collection box has been in Cappagh since I was a patient there as a child in the 60s and 70s. It’s not something you ever forget. I was a patient there again two years ago and as soon as I saw it all the memories came flooding back!
Judging by the braces on her legs, it’s possibly for the Spastics Society (or the Irish equivalent). Damien Hirst made a massive statue version of something similar: http://img.dailymail.co.uk/i/pix/2007/06_01/HirstSast1006_468x535.jpg
I remember the little blind boy version outside all the UK newsagents when I was a kid: http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2772/4439187148_05cb22a29f.jpg I remember finding it a bit creepy at the time too.
Freaky, it looks like a character from Bioshock or something
