Rita McCann, a survivor of the medical procedure Symphysiotomy at a press conference in Dublin this morning calling fora temporary lifting of the time limit a person can seek redress from the state.
The statue of limitations lays down a two year period within which proceedings must be initiated. Most of the Symphysiotomy cases in Ireland go back 40 -50 years.
Rita described the procedure as ‘abuse’.
