Paws of Steel

Merlot,

Found hobbling in the grounds of a restaurant in Glasson, Co. Westmeath.

His left front paw had been severely injured and “some of the pads were missing leaving the bone exposed”.

The injury was so severe that it was thought that Merlot would have to have his leg amputated.

But it was decided to try a course of intense treatment in an effort to save the leg.

It worked!

Carmel Murray of the ISPCA writes:

Merlot has received great care at the ISPCA National Animal Centre with bandage changes every second day. He has been a model patient and, despite all he has been through, he continues to be a very affectionate little fellow. The Vet and staff are very pleased that his wound has healed so well but he will now need physiotherapy to regain to maximise the movement in the leg.
When fully recovered, Merlot will be available for adoption and will be seeking a home where he can live inside the majority of the time.

Anyone?
