Dublin’s THEATREclub has been working with people living in Moyross, Limerick to create a theatre piece called Moyross.

Rapper Nathan Keane, 19 – whose song [written with Calvin McNamara], was the subject of recent controversy when former CEO of Limerick City of Culture Patricia Ryan requested that the lyrics be changed – is taking part in the production.

Grace Dyas of THEATREclub told Limerick Leader:

“The idea is that there is as much talent in Moyross as there is under the Hollywood sign. When I first got here I thought there was such a difference between the public perception about what this place is and what it really is. I thought, wouldn’t it be great to try and do something truthful, the reality of people’s experience here – and the only way to do that is to give them the voice themselves, give the stage over to them.”

Moyross will take place at the Lime Tree Theatre in Limerick from April 30 to May 3, as part of the Limerick City of Culture festival.
