Wasn’t there yesterday when thee country folk were protesting!
scottser
does it belong to garth brooks?
TomRed
Been there for the past couple of months.
I’d say it’s in case of anyone driving cement truck/digger/jcb etc at gates of Leinster House in protest, so they can tow it away pronto.
Awful feckin’ eyesore on the street.
medieval knievel
maybe it’s on hand in case of a breakdown in college green, with the luas works ongoing there – so they can clear the blockage as quickly as possible.
Panty Christ
That makes no sense.. No left turn on Dawson street to Nassau street bringing you around to college green. If you go right and follow Nassau onto Westland row and onto Pearse you can’t go straight to college green because of bus corridor, you must go onto Tara street and then the quays. You’d be all day getting to college green and it’s 1 minute away.
collynomial
it has flashing lights and a siren…
Overthinking it Panty
Eh… if the council have this on standby for breakdowns I would think they would just allow it make the left turn onto Nassau street or go through the bus corridor. Especially if it’s to clear a blockage which would be causing, at that stage, quite significant traffic congestion.
I think it makes perfect sense that this is why it’s parked up there.
medieval knievel
yep – if there is a blockage, it’ll spread back up dame street, down westmoreland street and down pearse street, i suspect – but nassau street would be clear given the direction of traffic, so it’d be able to get to the blockage down that way.
Jocostly
It’s the Freemasons. No left turn doesn’t matter when you have a secret tunnel.
Its for clearing away the cement trucks and jcb’s and whatever broke builders are crashing in to the railings of leinster house these days.
Joker
It belongs to Gannons. They do the removal work for the Gardai. This is left in the city centre in case of a truck/bus collision or breakdown and it needs to be towed away.
Panty Christ
The Po Po and clampers have their own tow away vehickles?
Joker
Gannons are contracted to the GardaĆ, the GardaĆ don’t have their own removal vehicles. If you get a car taken off your, it’s Gannons who would take it away.

So who pays to have it sitting around just to do work in the city for the Gardai?
Joker
No one. It would just normally be sitting in Gannons yard, so they leave it in town to allow for quicker response. One broken down bus or truck could bring Dublin to a standstill.
Western Pig Dog
I was once told that Gannon’s is owned by a former policeman, but I don’t know if that’s true.

It’s a big red alarm telling you you’ve too much time on your hands
gerry
It’s been there for months now. Seems to be a private business operating form a public street.

Like the prozzers who used to work in trucks that pulled in on Benburb St in the old days. Maybe they still do?
Jeez, that was depressing to see: smacked out prozzers being hauled into trucks in broad daylight.
DaveM
Whats a prozzer?
andyourpointiswhatexactly
Sorry. I went a bit peoplesrepublicofcork there. It’s a prostitute.
A prozzer lashing back the razza after being funted outta de cab, boy.
Bertie Blenkinsop
I think the LUAS put a stop to all of that, it probably still goes on down on the Quays mind you.
DaveM
I think i might steal it and go on a speed style rampage through the city tonight just to try and upstage that Garth Brooks fella.
Mr. P
So the rozzers/DCC pay a driver & big truck 24/7 ?
Sounds expensive.
Chucky R. Law
It’s a transformer. When it’s not needed for clearing broken buses, it terrorises the neighbourhood.
pissedasanewt
Its quite clearly Optimist crane…
El Capytan
Pop an FOI into superintendent section of Leinster house. You may discover they have it on hire
DD
I do hope its owner finds it safe and well.
Owen
Travellers parked at Temple Street Hospital with 2-3 caravans and vans for a month in May. No clampers, no parking tickets.
Conor
You are only half right Joker. Gannons are contracted to the Garda but only on the north and west sides of Dublin. Beahan recovery do this part of the city. This vehicle is under contract to the company who is doing the work for the Luas works. It has been there since they started.
It’s all about confidence, Niall.

Only for private cars buses and taxis can turn left at house of Ireland and loop around by O’Neils

That truck is red.
