Tolka River, Dublin today.
Sasko writes:
“People living near the Tolka river have reported hundreds of dead fish as a large amount of foam entered the waterway today. Large stretches of the river (above) was covered with thick white foam, presumably from some form of detergent. The river flowing through Griffith Park, between Glasnevin and Drumcondra, appears the worst affected, with dead fish littering the banks and floating on top of the water. Inland Fisheries Ireland has launched an investigation into the source of pollution….”

Probably someone sorting out this problem.

one of the reasons the tolka is not the healthiest river is that there are housing estates upstream where the foul water from kitchens and the like is channeled into the storm drains rather than the foul drains, and the detergent causes problems.
not saying that’s what caused the above, unless someone had a *lot* of washing up to do.
Oh no, this is dreadful. The Tolka is one of the best things about living Northside.
It is. And it’s shit.
This used to happen all the time up until a few years ago, but I’ve never in my life seen it as bad as it is in some of the pictures online.
A top-notch headline.
I need someone to explain the reference.
Benefits of a classical education.
Line from Virgil’s Aeneid, referring to the “River Tiber flowing with much blood,” and famously quoted by Enoch Powell – http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rivers_of_Blood_speech.
Sorry, I usually run the ecowash cycle.
Disgruntled Garth Brooks illuminati farmers no doubt. Your move Drumcondra.
