Pardon my ignorance, but why exactly would ‘we’ choose to abstain from something like this, especially given the public condemnation? Whose interests does it serve?

Listening to our new Foreign Affairs ministers ‘ara sure ders two o dem in it’

Our government(s) consistently fail to stand up for anything and fall for everything, at home and abroad…

They voted in line with other EU states, following what amounted to a request to abstain en-bloc.

How spineless are our representatives, that we can’t even say we’re in favour of respecting international law. Are we really that scared of the US and Israel?

Of the developed nations of Europe we weren’t the only ones to abstain. The UK, Germany, Italy and France all abstained. Wonder why…..

All the Euro nations abstained by the looks of it, except Russia, and that’s only to piss off the Yanks.

Germany can be excused from anything that can be linked or construed as anti-Israel rhetoric. Shame on the rest of these shitstain countries, especially ours.

Hamas kept the ceasefire until Israel broke it. Their pathetic rockets, which have failed to do any damage at all, are hardly worthy of intense international condemnation, particularly in light of the massive bombardment and death toll in Gaza (which is not to say they should be applauded). This would be like the British bombing Tralee into the ground because of a shooting in Derry and is rightly deserving of international condemnation, and hopefully sanctions of some kind, in spite of the government’s cowardly abstention.
