A crowd estimated at 2,500 people, including Sinn Fein’s Mary Lou McDonald and Joan Collins TD (pic 4)  and Clare Daly TD (above)  took part in the protest.

Will they highlight the persecution and harassment of Christians in Palestine by Muslims?

Maybe large banners alerting the public to this fact might not be welcome?

Haven’t heard of that happening. Did see a Christian priest offering his church for Eid to people whose mosque had been demolished though. Have you any links to news articles about this persecution of christians please?

Great fresh material Baz. Looking forward to your tour with des bishop where you can explain the differences between Irish men and Irish women and that time you got your first shift in the local dish-co.

Should probably put down your smart phone. Chances are it has Israel tech inside it

      1. Sidewinder

Yeah because ceasing to use the phone will have the exact same effect as not buying it in the first place. Boycotts have a retroactive effect right? Like the money you spent without realising what you were doing reappears in your wallet if you smash a laptop or vomit up some fruit?

My god, what a collection of morons. Where are the “die ins” for the 9000 dead children killed in Syria?? Oh yeah, that’s Arab on Arab. Different thing when it’s a Jew doing the killing. The anti-semitism in this country is astounding.

    1. Sidewinder

I know. I saw a picture of four thousand anti-semites protesting the Gaza occupation in Tel Aviv the other day. All those jew hating jews, so terrible to see.

      @HF
The Balkan wars were European vs European. Civil wars are hard. The Gaza situation is asymmetric. The IDF are one of the best equipped groups in the World. The people of Gaza cannot defend themselves.

When Irish people protested against the Apartheid system in South Africa, was it because they hated white people?

Anti-semitism is a nice label to throw against your enemies. I don’t think too much about Israel, or Jewish people. I do think a lot about innocent individuals being murdered with ruthless efficiency.

If objecting to ethnic cleansing and the persecution of Palestinians in Israel = Anti-semitic / (Racist)

Does cheering on this slaughter and shilling for the Israelis = Pro-semitic / (Anti-racist) ?

    4. Medium Sized C

Clearly the moron is you in this situation.

Comparing Israel/Palestine to the Syrian Civil war is stupid.
      They are very different conflicts.
Plus reducing the conflict to “Arab on Arab” is stupid.
Syria is a much more complicated conflict than “Arab on Arab”.

And more stupid still is accusing people who are criticising Israel of anti-semitism because of something that is happening in a different country.

What was ‘wrong’ with my Hickeyhider post ? Am i on Santa’s naughty list or are the humans looking for the blind pension ?

HF, I was there on Saturday, and let me assure you, it’s not because I’m anti-Jew. I’m just a person who knows the difference between right and wrong.

    1. HF

And I understand that completely. What I cannot understand is the different rules that Israel is held accountable to. When Assad slaughters 1000s in Syria, there is literally no response here in Ireland. When Israel kills civilians, there is immediate uproar across Europe. Look what’s happening in paris the last few weeks. What’s Israel supposed to do here? It’s surrounded on all sides by people that want them all dead, Israel destroyed and the end of Judaism. The protests here and across Europe indirectly help this position. The killing of innocent civilians has to stop, but I am totally behind Israel in its need for security.

  5. SunshineB

I feel the overall sentiment in this case is far less anti-Israel and more to do with showing the people of Gaza that we won’t stand idly by and watch them be terrorised. Of course Israel should defend itself but reasonable force is always key. Yes sadly it happens elsewhere and yes that’s awful but just because we don’t take to the streets every time to show our disgust doesn’t mean it’s not appropriate for us to do so now.
