I had a free-post label to return something to Monsoon, but it was for Royal Mail. No matter how many times I told the nice folk from Monsoon on the phone or by email, they never believed me that the label would not work from here.

In the end I had to get proof of postage and a receipt, so they could refund me the postage.

I used to have this problem when asked to send SAEs to England.
In fact, I still have to explain to a Society that I pay an annual subscription to that Ireland does not use sterling and I cannot pay via UK postal order.
      Basic general knowledge sharply lacking.

I’m particularly taken with the “England” disposable BBQs in B&Q and the Union Jack mousemats in Maplins. Big sellers, I’m sure.

Any bank or post office will issue a sterling draft (for a fee). It’s still ridiculous though.

Try convincing companies like Monsoon that 0800 and 0845 numbers are a *national* service and generally unrecognised by TelCos outside of the UK.

We regularly get items delivered to us by a UK courier. While payment is not a problem (credit cards are a delight, when you don’t pay the bill yourself) we have constant problems that the courier cannot deliver to Ireland as it does not recognise our post codes. As we have an office in Belfast, we regularly have things delivered to Dublin, BT1 1ND.

    Go figure.

Interestingly Amazon and co have no such problems…
