Morrissey writes:
“They have scraped cancerous tissues from me four times already, but who cares. If I die, then I die. And if not, then I don’t. Right now I feel good. I am aware that in recent photos I look unwell, but that is what illness does. I’m not going to worry about that, I’ll rest when I’m dead.”
Vinny writes:
“He’s due to play the 3Arena [Dublin] on Dec 1st. Get well soon, bequiffed king of genius.”

If he dies, I die.
get over yourself, emo.
You get over YOURself, em, “Scottser”, is it?
i’m already over myself. a more grounded, albeit facetious lad you’d never meet. oh, and it’s scottser with a small ‘s’ and no quotation marks, vinnie.
I doubt that!
vinnie, i doubt you even exist. i reckon you’re a spambot.
That’s your problem. Not mine.
it’s certainly not my problem, vinbot
Aw, Scottser. Cheer up, mate.
“emo”
When were they knocking around then, oh maybe less than 10 years ago and haven’t a clue who Morrissey is?
Emo /ˈiːmoʊ/ is a style of rock music characterized by melodic musicianship and expressive, often confessional, lyrics. It originated in the mid-1980s hardcore punk movement of Washington, D.C., where it was known as “emotional hardcore” or “emocore” and pioneered by bands such as Rites of Spring and Embrace.
man, you couldn’t even look it up on wiki. you lazy pr1ck.
Emo definitely still has nothing to do with Morrissey or the Smiths, though.
“mid-1980s hardcore punk movement of Washington, D.C.”
starina, please crawl out from under your rock. are you honestly suggesting that american kids couldn’t buy records from an overseas band in the mid 80’s?
Emo was post-smiths. The smiths were more associated with the goths bizarrely enough thanks to mozzers cheerful outlook on life and love.
What’s that got to do with Clamp’s mother?
Yeah yeah. Still not associated with Morrissey.
Were you one of those Duran Duran fans Scottser?
The last of the gang to die.
The last of the gang to die?
Eh i don’t want to be cruel but if it was me id be giving up the auld vegan ways and id be tucking into a good t-bone.
That’s not being cruel, it’s being thick.
See answer below.
Agree with you Drogg. Vegan didn’t do much for Steve Jobs. He should give up wheat and go low carb instead.
Drogg is a diabetic so the auld low carb doesn’t work for me but i think living and eating an extreme diet of any kind is not good for you i think balance is what works best and jellies, jellies work good too.
Yes, everything in moderation. I thought the low carb diet was supposed to reverse diabetes? I’ve never met a vegan who wasn’t completely neurotic.
Different type of diabetes your thinking of and no it doesn’t sure it ether though. I am a type 1 diabetic which is a genetic condition, type two diabetes which comes with being over weight or old is what you are thinking of but all diabetics need carbs in their diet as they need slow releasing sugars.
Dammit that was meant to be cure it, not sure it.
A real man.
he does everything real men do, except coitus
Yeah nothing better for cancer than animal fat and flesh, well proven all right.
Well if his uber healthy lifestyle didn’t help and he is going to die anyway, i’d start smoking again, i’d be having fry’d steak and eggs for most of my meals and washing it down with with a good barley based beer.
If I was diagnosed with terminal cancer I would smoke, eat, drink, f**k and shoot whoever I want.
Let’s remember that when the aul vegans and vegetarians compare their healthy diet to the general population, they are doing just that, comparing it to the general population and then claiming to be superior to the general population’s diet containing meat.
‘general population’ being the key here.
I’d like to see them compare a “healthy vegan (or vegetarian) diet” to a “healthy diet that has meat” for a change, because comparing it to the general populous will always make their diet look good…. add to that the lifestyle of vegans is generally a healthy one, so why not compare it to a similar lifestyle of a meat eater.
This is not a gripe, just pointing something obviously skewing the figs. if there is a study comparing healthy lifestyle groups of vegan and meat diets, can anyone post a link, thanks.
+1
Would love to read a study like that. +1
From a vegan point of view the only reason it’s healthier is because of self-awareness. Like you said vegans tend to be healthier. You can’t just assume you’ll naturally get all required nutrients (especially b12) so I think we tend to be very aware of what we’re eating/ not eating and as an ethical vegan I could never really understand people doing it for the health kick. Mostly plant-based? Knock yourself out but vegan? Depends on how you interpret that.
I eat normal delicious food (healthy and junk) and watch iron/ protein/ vitamins etc because there’s such a concern from people about where we get it from but I don’t think I’m any more or less healthy than if I was an omnivore. Just more aware.
Vegans can be
To finish comment before fingers got in the way…
Vegans can be just as unhealthy/ healthy as anybody else.
It’s not often you hear that tho, thanks.
No it’s not and I think that most peoples views of vegans is very stereotypical. I have omni friends and vegan friends and you’d never know one from the other (unless we’re eating out and you hear ‘salad, no dressing please! but more places are more willing to adapt options). The only time I’ve (or I’ve known people to get defensive) become defensive is when people question your lifestyle and then they themselves become defensive and tell me they could never become vegan because of x, y, z even though you were merely answering their question and never asked them. I accept that people have choices and I’m a vegan in an omni world, I don’t judge.
I think that the main issue here though is knowing the difference between plant-based and vegan. A lot of vegans are plant-based but not all plant-based eaters are vegan, some include fish and meat in their diet. I can understand pushing the health aspects of the lifestyle because that’s what draws people in to it and I’ve had friends go plant-based for health then eventually vegan after researching the lifestyle and the meat/ dairy industry. So it’s a good starter point for people who for ethical and environmental reasons aren’t that interested but I think given that nature of a pure plant based diet, you’d either have to go back to omni or at least vegetarian or go vegan because you don’t have that want once you make an ethical or environmental connection with food.
Morrissey is an ethical vegan. Apologies for the essay but I think it’s important to give a view of vegans outside of who people think we are. We’re not evil, just either concerned about commodification of animals, the environment or both and try to live as close to those ideas as we can
Hi Feegan just to express a point on ethical veganism, if everyone in the world became vegan tomorrow do you realise that it would result in the mass extermination of billions of animals. One of the biggest commodities on our planet is land so if we no longer need to keep animals for food production and we don’t really have the space to release them, the only option would be to euthanise billions of animals.
I didn’t post to start a debate on my personal lifestyle because somebody wants to legitimize theirs but I’ve heard it all before. I was just giving a view of veganism that people don’t hear often because there’s some hysteria around it from both sides. The reality of veganism is that it probably hasn’t anything to do with his cancer.
Seeing as you’ve opened up that can of worms (there’s always one), those animals would be destroyed anyways for the meat/ dairy industry and are mass (re)produced solely for their body so wouldn’t have existed in the first place naturally. Either way the animals that exist now are dying. Most ethical vegans agree that at some point that mess needs to be rectified, and you’re right about land being one of our biggest commodities but you could use that land to grow a lot more crops.
Like I said I’ve heard them all, I choose to live my life the way I do based on how I feel just like everybody else. I choose not to eat any animal-based products, I’m not personally offended by people who don’t, I wish they didn’t but that’s their choice and they’ve made the decision that they think is the right one just like I have. There’s plenty of studies each side that says one is better than the other but each to their own. I’ll continue with my lifestyle and if someone asks I’ll inform them based on my own experiences and the information I have. Like I said I didn’t comment here to start an argument on the merits of veganism, just pointing out the fact that a vegan diet is as unhealthy or as healthy as you want it to be
All vegans are annoying.
As far as I’m aware Morrissey isn’t veggie primarily for health reasons, rather for political ones. Therefore most of above discussion is pointless
