Austerity Kills?
Yes. The financial pressure this has put on people has lead to more than a few suicides
No.
insightful
Austerity leads to anger. Anger leads to hate. Hate leads to suffering.

so just keep borrowing and everything is solved?
So pathetic. Such a scummy move.
General rule of thumb: anything that Brendan Young involves himself with, do the opposite.
Or you know, making up your own mind is always a possibility.
The subjects of Kingstown, marching on King George’s Street, aren’t very loyal. Indeed, quite, yes…
use more water, pay more. simples. whats the big issue here that people have?
A massive bonus culture quango with jobs for the incompetent boys being set up and fleecing people?
The bit where “use less water” does not equate to “pay less” perhaps?
The “erra, we’ll sell what we want to” approach to your personal data like your PPSN, maybe?
Or maybe it’s just the whole “we know your taxes paid for it for the entire history of the state, but you get to pay for it twice now, consumer!” thing.
One of the above…
Or the “let’s create a charging scheme, that way we can sell it to the highest foreign bidder, y’know, like half the property in Ireland that has gone to Blackstone, Cerberus and other Wall Street asset mgmt funds”. Yay, privatised water where the new owners have no responsibility to society, only shareholders profits (by law) because that worked out swimmingly with the banks, yay…
water protests that didn’t make the state broadcasters news. Instead, dear leader made sure that sinn fein were kept in the limelight.
Eerrrmm, I only because aware of them because I heard of them on the news of our national broadcaster. Poor turn out though.
I get quite the kick out of all you conspiracy theorists though, keep it up.
Crap, *I only became aware of them…..
The state broadcaster had footage of the Ennis protest (and one other) on the 9 news on both Saturday and Sunday.
Maybe your tinfoil hat is interfering with your reception.
2 demos reported out of how many?
Shame on RTÉ for reporting on demonstrations without providing a camera crew and on the spot reporter at every such protest around the country.
Boo Hoo! RTÉ didn’t cover all the protests. Will you get over yourself. What do you want? RTÉ protest – a 24 hour HD channel with video and interviews from every protest about everything and anything taking place around the country. They don’t even have the resources to cover every St. Patricks’ day parade FFS.
I dunno, 2… or maybe 5? Your apparent outrage at the coverage is pointless unless you know the answer.
The bigger an ass Irish water makes of things it seems the bigger their staff bonuses. Apparently in the real world if you prove yourself to be a consistent under achiever you find yourself on the dole.
Unless your name is John Tierney
