John Tierney outside Leinster House, Kildare Street, Dublin this afternoon

“It was a very good meeting with the minister [Alan Kelly]. We covered all of the issues. The heartening thing was that he recognised the scale of what we have been asked to do…
…He wants a renewed emphasis on all issues to do with the customer. Obviously in relation to the political representations from TDs and councillors because they are representing people. So we had a very good discussion. He recognised we have taken on a very difficult job and we are going to continue to do what is required of us, of a utility.”

Meanwhile..

“It’s an unjust law. I obey every law (and) I understand the reasons for it. I pay my water charge, the nett charge, but, until such time as (Irish Water) give me a coherent reason why I should hand over my PPS number, I’m not giving them the PPS number, and I am entitled to deduct the allowance – no doubt they’ll come after me for that, and let them.
“And let the legalities or illegalities of my action be thrashed out there if it should come for a confrontation in court.”

Fianna Fáil’s Willie O’Dea TD on Limerick’s Live 95Fm today

Sido asks:

“Anyone know what the deal is with this story?  I’m on a group water scheme, so don’t get any of this hassle, but this sounds fairly sinister…”

Anyone?

He and his jobs for the boys, Irish Gravy or whatever they are calling themselves now, days are numbered. And not a moment too soon. All out Nov the 1st. No consent and Don’t pay.

    1. TheDude

He did a jolly good job on the incinerator and Eyre Square. How about a HSE role next? Jobs for da boys yo

Perhaps it’s a controversial view but wouldn’t this be as good a time as any, in line with “Obviously in relation to the political representations from TDs and councillors because they are representing people”, that Irish Water staff genuinely be given license to tell TDs and councillors to get lost and stop making representations; if a citizen has a problem, they can call the number themselves?

TDs and councillors making representations? It’s just more fixing the road…

Nope sorry you are not talking sense.

Every comment I read on the internet, says there isn’t any point in calling Irish Gravy, seemingly when you fight your way past the defensive telephone menu, no one can give a straight answer in any event.

And I’m not just gleaning this information from commie whiners who don’t share the vision of a brighter future with a world class water utility.

On the PPS issue. Just put down a fake PPS No. Unless they have access to the Revenue or the Social (which they shouldn’t have) they have no way to cross check it.

    1. Delacaravanio

      1. That would be fraud.
      2. They do have access to the social welfare PPS main database to cross check.

      1. Odis

        >“2. They do have access to the social welfare PPS main database to cross check.”
        >access to the social welfare PPS main database
        >access

So what’s Willie O’ Dea claiming off social welfare?

  4. My Daddy is bigger than Yours

    Willie O’Dea – you’re having a laugh!

Deduct the allowance? – you bellend – the PPS is required to stop people claiming for holiday homes, and the like. Pay for your water you scabby crunts

    1. Odis

      1) Wait, you get an allowance for having a holiday home, is that what you are trying to say? Or can’t you English properly?

2)Also, try to moderate your language, broadsheet’s been getting complaints, recently, from Irish Times journalists.

  5. Niallo

    Unelected general purpose whipping boy.
Wont need to worry about pensions or speeding tickets or any of that stuff the normal plebs have to deal with.
