Having already rowed in on the recent controversy surrounding British comedian Andrew Lawrence’s Facebook rant against anti-UKIP gagsters on Mock The Week, Dara Ó Briain wins all the Twitters.

I really like Dara. And I am an Irish speaker and tweeter. It’s not that hard to put in a fada on the smartphones these days! Or even if you are using a keyboard :) Other than that, good job!

Má tá tú ar an ríomhaire coimeád do mhéar ar “Alt Gr” agus brúigh an guta atá ag teastáil. Beidh fada air.

Má tá tú ar fhon cliste, brúigh ar an nguta féin agus beidh seans agat a fada a chur air.

      !

Is féidir liom fada a usáid are mo fón Android.
Cad atá mícheart le do fón?
Brú ar an focail agus coimead síos agus feicfidh tú roghanna specíalta

Thanks all, but I actually meant that it isn’t difficult to add a fada to your words when using a smartphone, not that I thought smartphone manufacturers should add the symbol to the keypad :) I use fadas all the time when writing in Irish, I was just commenting on the lack of fadas in Dara’s tweet, which I thought odd given how easy it is to add them now. But maybe he’ll read the comments here and do so from now on :) Badly phrased comment by me! Sorry.

Fairplé a Dhara. Is fíor duit é gur Britlicker thú ó am go ham, ach seasann tú an fód dúinn chomh maith nuair is gá.

To say he rowed in on the Andrew Lawrence Facebook rant is a little misleading, in that sections of the rant seemed to attack him directly. He was merely defending himself against a racist, sexist, right wing bigot I would say.

Good man Dara. Still don’t know what is more annoying, the BNP’s “all furrigners out” or UKIPs “ah sure, we will keep the white English speaking ones, they are practically the same as us”
    Scum, the lot of them.

Andrew Lawrence looks and acts like the kid from Deliverance, only without the banjo talent

Seems to share a similar view of “folks not from round here, y’all” too…

Nár lagadh Dia thú a chara. Is deas an rud múnadh a chuir ar dhaoine aineolach anois agus arís.

Very useful if you’re the victim of a hit and run in Connemara.

Inis d’om cén dath a bhí ar an gluaisteáin.

and will wield political control over our nearest neighbours following their next election by at least forcing the UK to a referendum on EU membership, a referendum that UKIP will win,

in fairness mock the week is about as funny as a prostate exam.
same hacks wearing stupid colored shirts talking s****

Oh God ya, it’s bad. Not for the reasons that your man the racist says though. Imagine over-analysing the flaws in mock the week? It’s little he has to worry him.

      Garçon….coffee!

I was born and bred in Ireland. I am fluent in English, Italian and Spanish. I have good French. My German is OK. And I have been only recently learning Swedish, so I am only at the basic level.

But I cannot speak a word of Irish. Seriously.
