But I thought closing the double Irish would send all the foreign companies away and usher in a new famine?

Shhhh! We need to keep this up just long enough for baldy to retire with da full pensin. Stop making waves, you.

They don’t use the Double Irish. They have Luxembourg schemes, which are currently being investigated by the EC for State assistance. At least they have bums on seats in Dublin.

Do Amazon even have a warehouse here? They do some serious software development in Dublin (a chunk of the Kindle stuff is done here as well as AWS as far as I’m aware) so more than likely ‘proper’ jobs.

They have a warehouse. They use it for a homeless fight club they organise for rich investors to attend while here for the web summit. You should see the big smiles on their blood spattered faces as they leave. Begrudge it if you wish, but this summit makes a lot of people happy. And hurts a few homeless people, fair enough.

Yeah but is the IDA giving them a grant to provide the jobs like they usually do? Not to mention the 5 years it takes to bring them on stream.

Sigh, had a look through the jobs going. It’s all engineer this and engineer that. No place for someone like me with an irrelevant degree and Masters. Looks like it’s suicide again for me.

It doesn’t help that Rob Reiner is the one announcing it.
