      I agree. That is the back page, though. Cricket is the only long standing national sport, so this is a big tragedy in Australia.

      It’s a bit twee IMO.
      They’ve also somehow managed to squeeze in their lazy-generalisation-by-country philosophy into it.

   That creep Bishop Doran expects us to believe that opposition to marriage equality is not about opposition to homosexuality? Well versed in Iona spin and smokescreen now I see. From the same man who, while on the Mater Hospital “ethics committee”, opposed pioneering cancer treatment for women solely due to the fact they were required to take the contraceptive pill? Professor John Crown gave a robust smackdown to that luminary’s lowbrow religious zealotry. And on the subject of homosexuality, the putrid stench of hypocrisy emanates from Bishop Doran and has for some time.

      Actually, you’ll find it’s Patsy I-can’t-believe-I’m-not-Protestant is stirring it up as usual.

      The only “inside track” he has into Catholic affairs is through his chums in the ACP.

      One wonders where he’d end up writing if he wasn’t on the Oirish Times permanent payroll.

         Well at least Patsy McGarry doesn’t delude himself that he is some sort of steerage-class “public intellectual” in the vein of John “pay-up or I’ll sue” Waters. Around my neck of the woods in Monkstown, there is a running joke about the Sunday Times payout finally getting Waters onto the property ladder. Like Doran, a grade-A hypocrite but more to be pitied than scorned though for obvious reasons.

         Can’t help but think ABM that your own “inside track” into Roman affairs isn’t really anything to crow about either. Lol.

   It is good to see that Bob’s mate, Mitchell, has met justice. In Ireland, there would have been a threat to transfer to Mayo.

      …can’t believe that Sir Bob’s intervention and character reference for Mitchell didn’t work…sure it’s only months since he saved Scotland for the Kingdom.

   Two of PC Rowland’s colleagues were sacked over the incident.

   Anyway, Mitchell didn’t face justice in that he took the libel trial only to find that the judge felt that Rowland was too dull to have made up that he said ‘pleb’. If Mitchell hadn’t have taken the trial, he’d be a few million pounds the richer (lawyers fees are obscene there also).
