RTE excels at this sort of sloppiness.
Agree 100%. This sort of sloppy ineptitude is rife at RTE. Last night they misspelt the Ural Mountains on the weather graphics.
Oh yeah – sloppy isnt the word, they are real amateurs. I love watching the Late Late or other crappy shows for their hilarious camera work, lighting and, well everything! And its not down to budget, its pure incompetence!

..sure with all them being braless on the RTE News nowadays. The country’s gone to the dogs Joe, etc etc.

The sound design and engineering on RTE has always been remarkable to me. You’d be watching say, the Riptide Movement on the Late Late and they sound tinny, echoey, trebled out. Then you flick to Later with Jools and you’d have some hipster from Lesotho sounding utterly creamy with the backing instruments and vocals at just the right levels. Agree with others that it just can’t be budget, the desks and monitors could be the exact same, has to be ineptitude. Same engineer for years probably, used to do sound for nativity plays at primary schools
Ah Nuala Carey. Must be doing the same “reading the weather but not a meteorologist” shtick for about ten years now.
