More omissions from the Irish Times front page. That’s (at least) the third time this week. What’s the craic?

Someone explained the other day that it’s done for first edition stories that they’re afraid other papers might nick for their later editions. I’m not sure if that’s right, but it sounds plausible.

Was it the speculation that Pat “you say that during elections though” Rabbitte may get the nod to be next Ceann Comhairle, despite the fact his party is in the toilet in the polls and faces wipe-out in 2016, and despite Pat’s underwhelming performance at energy and communications.

To give him his dues, he probably most resembles the previous chancer, John O’Donoghue, but that’s no qualification.

I’d love to see Peter Mathews become the next Ceann Comhairle, he has filled the role during this administration on occassion when the Ceann and leas Ceann weren’t available, and despite his reputation for long-windedness, Peter actually maintained good order across the party lines.

Wouldn’t they see the paper’s headlines in the shop quicker? I would like to hear from BS directly. We demand answers!

Omissions, deletions, insertions, etc. Par for the course for the Paper of Record.

This article has had quotes and names removed:

Were they not correct when they pressed the publish button?

Here’s more recent articles that have been memory-holed by the good old Irish Times:

Where’s the outrage in Ireland? Many of our public buildings including Aras an Uachtarann were flying the Tricolor at half-mast. In the UK’s case, they have a deeply corrupt relationship over oil and arms, but what’s the Irish link to Saudi Arabia? Larry Goodman’s beef business?

I think its a bit strong myself. Dierdre could be argumentative and destructive but tyrant is going a bit too far.

How much more mileage can be squeezed from Leo-is-gay?

Can we not get back to his being in charge of the non-functioning health service? We don’t pay him to be gay, straight, or trans – we pay him to look after sick people.

Yes, a senior right-wing politician being openly gay in Ireland is a thing… but a bigger thing is the sh*te health service
