It’s political correctness gone mad Stu.

(Although it’s probably for the best not to be using something sharp and pointy on a tram which is liable to stop suddenly and violently)

Apparently the ideal thing is a set of Denise interchangeable needles: http://www.knitdenise.com/
You can even bring them on planes. There’s basically no risk from them unless you ram them into your own eye. So don’t do that.

Who doesn’t let you knit? Is there a knitting police now?

    – “Excuse me Officers there are 2 men shooting up down the back”
    – “I’m afraid I can deal with that at the moment Mam, there’s a wooly scarf under construction by that eldery lady. Terry, break out the Tasers “

Ridiculous accusation. No one has ever said that you can’t knit on the Luas.
Who is this “they” who won’t let you do it? The person sitting beside you? Actual authorities?

Until any actual proof is provided, as opposed to someone acting the victim for the sake of attention, I think we can lay this one to rest.

Agree. According to Oein’s twitter page she’s an –

Irish nomad, living one day at a time, with a freshly baked cookie. Okay. And with a cup of tea. And maybe some chocolate. But I promise to take my vitamins.

Such a free spirited hipster is our Oein.

      Blech!

this. surely a succinct ‘go f**k yourself’ is enough to ward off any wannabe intruders into your knitting zen while on public transport?

On the 11 bus there are seats facing each other down the back downstairs. There were 2 women sitting opposite each other one evening, being Dublin bus they were constantly being shunted and shifted back and forth. I sat and wait for the carnage to ensue, it never happened.

Not too far wide of the mark, it’s looming with those plastic bands, or at least it was 18 months ago.

You can knit and crochet on the train. What’s so special about the Luas? There are far more harmful needles there………..

The name, the hobby, the filter, the border. The fact that you tweeted it. This has it all and yet you seem to be getting off very lightly here.

    Can only say fair play.

It’s coz we’re all pain in the hole hipsters too. We love sh*t like this, really.
**knits ferociously, taking intermittent breaks to type thoughts on old-fashioned typewriter in independent coffee shop**

Apt, in some weird way, that so many people refer to Oein DeBhairduin as “she”, given that the post below this one on the front page of Broadsheet is a film on transgender rights.

I’ve taken crochet hooks on planes before…less stabbage risk…also an altogether nicer type of fabric construction
