Last week  RTÉ’s Investigation Unit, published a comprehensive database online, outlining TDs and Senators’ pay, allowances and expenses between March 2011, just after the general election, until the end of July 2014.

The interactive table above has been created using data to allow readers see the sum total of pay, taxable allowances and expenses paid to each TD for each year in that timeframe.

Just click on the year.

Figures do not include the extra salaries paid to the Taoiseach, Tánaiste, Ministers or Junior Ministers as that money is paid out by their individual departments. Those extra salaries can range from €34,381 to €98,092 per year. The figures also don’t include some additional expenses paid to some TDs, such as constituency office grants, etc.

For a closer look at the overall figures and a breakdown of the pay, allowances and expenses, see here.

€100 million in pay and expenses for politicians (RTÉ)

I will be paying my licence fee this year for this info alone.

I see the average industrial wage is paying very nicely these days.

Those members who “take the average industrial wage” actually draw full salaries and expenses and plough the balance back into party funds.

      1. Dubloony

I know, I was being facetious. “Taking the average industrial wage” line will hopefully be killed off by the facts.

          Average per constituency

Now there’s an issue for the doorsteps

No, follow the link. You can sort high to low n all. There’s quite a range even after you exclude the ones who haven’t served the full 4 years.

      1. Small Wonder

No. I mean Gerry Adams, for example, claimed 126,973.46 in 2011 alone! Initially I thought it was over the 3 years.

        It’s PER YEAR!

        1. Small Wonder

Oh. I missed the word “pay” in that. Thought it was on top of their pay.

          *puts monocle back*

          Still though…

Why include expenses? If you’re going down that route why not include the expenses of their office, heating, stationary and a million other things associated with their jobs. I probably cost my employer 400K a year in “expenses”.

Its interesting to compare TDs from the same constituency. I’d expect Donegel TDs to have higher mileage than average, but to compare them with each other ….

Christ, Keano, you like to remind a Pale man how little he knows, despite the amount of time he might spend in God’s own city, or how much Tanora he might drink.

Does anyone know of a reliable comparison between our good ‘ol boys/girls and similar positioned politicians in europe/north America? Have we the highest costing members of parliament in the world? I know our judiciary is in the top 10 in the world of taxpayer costs, a Republic on the edge of Europe…free-for-all trough

That’s it, I’m moving home from the US with my firebrand rhetoric, acquired southern charm (y’all), fake tan and an unwavering faith in Jesus and I’m going to become a TD, and one day I’ll lead Ireland as Prim…. Taoiseach and get paid bucket loads.

God damn it, Michael Moynihan claimed over 60K in expenses in 2012.
