Hoof I Got News For You

at

threelegsAoife Cregan with fresian bull calf Hopalong Cassidy in Church Cross, Skibereen, Co Cork

Four legs good.

Three legs grand.

“I saw one leg coming out and I straightened it, but I couldn’t see the other one,” Farmer David Cregan told the Farmers Journal. “He was born on Tuesday and it was Thursday before he was able to stand.

Can we adopt him?

Is this common?

Euthanize him now, and you can at least use him for veal.

No life ahead. Can’t breed, can’t give milk, can’t reproduce, he’s the bovine John Murray.

My girlfriends family have a dairy farm. They had a blind all black fresian calf so they named it “Stevie Wonder”!

Not that common but not terribly unusual at the same time. Had a calf with 3 legs on our farm a few years ago and that’s the only one we had in about 30 years.

It’s just looks like 3 legs. It’s all about the perspective. Three legs up close, four legs far away.
