Yikes.

Defiant retooled tricolour and comment  from the Facebook page ‘Defend Marriage in Ireland Husband and Wife’.

Laura writes:

I noticed this comment when I was reading through some on the page (sucker for punishment). I commented asking if the administrator on the page was okay with it. My comment was deleted and the original comment untouched. Depressing stuff.

Oh wait is this the “gay agenda” we’ve heard so much about?

Can I just say, as a “straight” man, I’m honoured to be let into the secret gay agenda club.

      Thanks.

We were planning a secret take over the world and now that we have been discovered trying to infiltrate schools we would have gotten away with it was it not for those pesky damn Christians….

At least they haven’t found out our plan to spend all of the health care budget on fabulous shoes. Although Leo nearly let the purebred cat out of the bag.

If paedophilia is all about being gay, how did it happen that so many of those paedophile priests raped little girls?

Oh please – you’re in utterly no position to vaunt yourself as the arbiter of intelligence given your comment history.

Don’t you really think the faux- contrarian shtick you peddle on here is wearing just a little thin? Grow up.

Ah, Jord does have a point Sickofallthisbs. When it gets to the stage where you are easily imitated and all too obvious you need to reassess. Jord is a bit of a wind-up merchant though with comments designed to get up the the nose of all and sundry.

Good work there Cluster – thanks, point noted. I will change my behaviour. You have reached out and touched somebody appropriately for a change.

it’s depressingly predictable, but Mark Batey is apparently a proud Irish-American resident of Florida. Just as very many of the commenters on the Irish Voice FB page (especially those making foul comments about Muslims and ethnic minorities in Ireland) and the various ‘Irish’ anti-abortion FB pages are also American. But at least we can take some comfort that they’re several thousand miles away, I guess.

Wooah! Is this man a character in a new Ricky Gervais comedy show? What? Its a real person, you say? His tiny mind must be exploding with all the crazy scenarios it is thinking up!

Thank you for taking responsibility for the mandatory and pointless “THEY HAVE FREE SPEECH YOU KNOW” comment. I’m sure I for one had no idea that they were allowed to do this. You’d swear we had an equal right to use our free speech to criticise how they use their free speech! Sure that’s mad Ted!

    2. DoM

When the strongest argument you can make in their defence is that what they’re saying isn’t LITERALLY ILLEGAL… Well, it’s not the most persuasive position I’ve ever seen taken.

Completely irrelevant. This eejit went trawling for offense, found it, asked for censorship and got it. She’s probably been working on her telltale skills since baby infants

I’m Surprised they didn’t take your report more seriously ….

    (function(d, s, id) { var js, fjs = d.getElementsByTagName(s)[0]; if (d.getElementById(id)) return; js = d.createElement(s); js.id = id; js.src = “//connect.facebook.net/en_GB/all.js#xfbml=1”; fjs.parentNode.insertBefore(js, fjs); }(document, ‘script’, ‘facebook-jssdk’));Post by Defend Marriage in Ireland: Husband And Wife.

Apparently half way down the comments … they don’t tolerate insults !

  6. Soundings

This is just a provocation surely, to incite an over-reaction from marriage equality supporters. Shure, young master Batey’s name even sounds makey-uppy, and is that an Islamic “J” there also. Uuuuh (waves imaginary stick, the young pup!)

  7. f-mong

At this stage I’m actually totally on for destroying marriage, fupp it an outmoded patriarchal tradition with a lot of dressing up in awful clothes you’d never wear in a mad fit on any other day, who’s only real purpose is a tax break and to keep the function rooms of regional hotels booked up.

  8. well

I think it’s being run by a “Chris McDo..” his facebook url ends in the words /defendmarriageinireland or something similar.

  9. Ger Nalist

Je suis Charlie seems a long time ago already.
Batey is entitled to freedom of expression, however wrongheaded that expression. Running around getting administrators to take down stuff you don’t like is soooo last year
