Exactly! I’ve never heard it (in that context) pronounced as anything other than scarleh.
I can’t remember what the Cork version is. Probably nothing, as Cork people never do anything embarrassing.

And red doesn’t really feature as a colour down there either

My wife and her family from rural Cork all say scarlet. Is the stereotypes aimed at rural Cork people? Strange one to aim for in Dublin.
The desire to be the capital is that strong in Cork, I guess.

It’s Scarleh. Get it right.

Northside? So the red line goes though those wealthy south suburbs such as James’s St, Fatima mansions, Rialto, Kilmainham, Drimnagh, Inchicore and Bluebell? Cop on. Surely the myth of the rich on one side and poor on the other is well and truly past its sell by date? Dublin is far more complicated and colourful to still be described as it was in the popular and profitable fables from the 80s and 90s novels. Working class Southside areas have always been with us as was wealthy Northside areas.
Ah now Eamon, have a lie down, the British monarchy left ages ago, for the most part, and man has walked on the moon.

Yeah, the traditional northside/southside divide is well and truly gone (if it was ever actually there). Has been a (broadly) westside/eastside divide for as long as i’v been around.
tis the same on the green line. yes should be #scarleh4U

Poor Mark, when he’s finished being offended, should perhaps take a ride on the luas where’ll he’ll see it crosses the Liffey onto the true south side. Or does his imagination stop there?

Beyond Dublin 6W isn’t really the “true southside”.

The same ads are on the green line – fare skippers are everywhere. I regularly see them on the green line, particularly teenagers.

The traditional northside/southside divide is not gone. And the Luas is proof of that. Two lines on the southside and none on the northside. The usual imbalance of resource allocation. It’s a disgrace.

Yous have the dortside!

There was a plan for a north Dublin line but the various special interests couldn’t agree until all the credit was gone.
The Dart sucks, its always full, breaks down or just decides to go really slow for no reason. Having lived on the southside for a few years near a Luas line, its by far the best public transport available in Ireland

Dart still beats the bus. Dun Laoghaire to Tara street in 20 mins.

it’s a nice cycle, 20 mins taking it handy, 15 if you leg it.
Surely they should have dropped the ‘T’?

It’s north side and westside–and most of the places it goes through are kips.
It’s mostly central and west.
