Broadsheet Trailer Park: Star Wars: The Digital Movie Collection

at

starwars

What you may need to know:

1. The Star Wars saga is now available for *cough* legal download for the first time.

2. Should go nicely with the 2011 Blu-ray box set, the 2008 re-packaged DVDs, the 2006 limited editions with the unaltered original trilogy, the original 2006 DVD box set and the first widescreen releases from 1994 on VHS (which I still have somewhere, although I can’t play them on anything).

3. The download figures for IV-VI versus I-III should be interesting. The best thing about those prequels was Mr. Plinkett’s reviews.

4. It’s a shame that George Lucas was never schooled in the delicate art of respecting your work. Once it’s out there George, it’s not yours anymore.

5. Star Wars: The Force Awakens is out in 253 days. So in 254 days we’ll all be b*tching about how it wasn’t as good as Phantom Menace (1999).

6. Broadsheet Prognosis: Enough already. Just release the unaltered originals.

Release Date: Today.

Star Wars : The most over rated Sci Fi film(s) of all time., a glorified western set in space

    Pales when compared to:

    2001
    Blade Runner ( any cut!)
    Star Trek II
    Alien
    Aliens

    Death star me hole………

The ‘western set in space’ is hardly a stick to beat it with, seeing as that’s how it was described by Lucas from day one.

it’s based on the works of Joseph Campbell. it’s basically the tale contained in every religious text but in space. chosen ones, mystical forces, predestination, temptation, all that jazz.

@ Rotide , Both better than Star Wars ” I will take “KHANNNNNNN” over “Luke I am your FAAAAAAAAAAAAA ther”

I thought the new Dredd was awesome.

The old is actually okay for as a cheesy 90s film, but I’d rather watch Demolition Man.

There’s nothing wrong with a good formula either, but for what’s it’s worth I’m pretty certain most of Dredd was filmed before the Raid was.

@ Jeremy, the director’s cut is a better offering than the regular cut.

Note that you’ll be stuck watching these on whatever system you originally downloaded them. So if you decide to download on an Xbox, well you can only watch on Xboxes. And maybe the next generation of Xboxes won’t let you play them…

Studios don’t want us buying movies anymore. We’re continuously renting.

I too own the first widescreen releases from 1994 on VHS, still in absolute mint and hiding in a box in the attic to someday be found by someone on an episode of Storage Wars Dublin who’ll no doubt get “50 bucks all day for these”

      LOL.
I shudder when I think of ‘Storage Wars Dublin’ and what it’ll throw up.
