His ‘n’ her bicycles.
PINCHED.

These two bikes – a Cube Agree GTC racer (left) and a Dawes duchess (right) were taken from Loretto Abbey apartments Rathfarnham [
CoDublin], from an underground carpark (that needs a fob), a locked bike shed with 2 good locks attached – has made me very sceptical of everyone. I have seen very little of those Cubes on the road so if I do see anyone cycle one I will stop them and ask – I am sure they wouldn’t mind as I would do the same for someone in the same boat…
Anyone?

It’s really getting bad. I had my specialized taken from a bike rack inside a gated complex that needs a code, last month. It was locked with a roadster spiral lock.
My boyfriend owns a bike shop. Anything but a U-lock can be broken through. Even a U-lock with an angle grinder will be off in tow seconds. His good Felt and Scotts are kept in the bedroom. I have seen friends bikes robbed when attached to the gates to their house by cutting through the rails. Keep them in your house.
Something something felt in the bedroom…..
A bit late but yeah, They cut through my chain with what I assume was an angle grinder or bolt cutter. I would normally keep my bike inside but the property company were a bit weird about it.
They can’t stop you bringing your property in doors. And now you have reason to tell them to fupp off… or better, hit them with a bill for the bike for insisting you keep it in an unsafe place.
If they give you grief over a bike, demand to know their policy on child buggies. Worked for me.
Nice.

feel your pain, just makes you feel sick and wary of everyone
Sorry for your loss. Nothing safe these days.

Mr Cube and Duchess Dawes

You need to camp out in that shed and water board everyone who uses it.
Rathfarnham is either Dublin 14 or 16, not Co Dublin.
sorry for your loss, erm,but before you stoping lads on the road and maybe causing a confrontation, I have seen plenty of those Cubes about – its a generic, low cost brand distributed by the largest retailer around, not exactly a Baum now is it?
nah – tazer first, ask questions later.
Hey Liam, its a full carbon Cube AGREE GTC RACE, cost €2k, havent seen many people on it. The peletons are the cheap generics.
right, not sure i agree but hope you get them back anyhow
Did you record the Serial Number?
have the serial number yes – reported to Gardai, reported to register my bike.ie
jesus, thats a nice bike (the cube). common enough though i’d say. chain reaction? safe to say it was taken by someone who does this thing fairly often. if it was locked, inside your building, would it not be insured?
Likely not on a rented pad…. me thinks
Absolute dose, I’d take a look on Gumtree/adverts etc, and call around to all second hand bike shops in a ten mile radius, hope you find it.
i’ve been monitoring adverts/gumtree.done deal and set up alerts – they are insured but I would rather just to get them back then to go through all the rigmarole and the sentimental value and all that jazz!
Check also Donedeal . . . friend of mine also had highend bike taken and found it offered for sale there.
Re locks: U-locks on frames are, apparently very easy to break. The lads simply lift up the bike and twist the frame using it as a lever. Lock pops open. My wife lost a new Trek this way. A mixture of U-locks on wheels and cables/chains are best – but even then . . .
Any chance the culprits would be on CCTV?
not on CCTV no – none in the block apparently
would i keep a carbon framed bike worth 2k in a public shed? c’mon man!
Some local knack bag took your bike, either from the neighbourhood or the building. It’s local, so bide your time, it might turn up in a few months. Ask bike shops in local area to keep an eye out, tell the guards, look into your building insurance… Dont give up hope!
Any lock can be broken. Bed room wall mount for bike. argos has ’em…
true my niavety got the better of me, just thought the people I lived with were decent folk. you need a key to get into the bike shed which is like a bank safe (big heavy steel door) fob to get into the carpark. even the tools to remove it must have made some noise, so apologies for my stupidity but just trying to catch a break
jesus yeah, sorry! I had my bike nicked recently and feel your pain. got it back four months later. Apparently some locals scuts stole it from my backyard and then sold it to local bike shop who, where they were trying sell it. Try this too https://www.facebook.com/f3ck3rs?fref=ts
cheers man I just posted on that, hopefully something comes back – just loved the bike. Glad to hear you got yours back –
I had a bike once….. it was yellow in colour. I loved it very much. Sorry to hear about your bike Carn buddy.
I’ll keep a look out on set and if i see it, i give em a roundhouse to the face.
