I suppose FG will engage in a smear of Sinn Fein later this week now to dampen that opinion poll down some
and why not? While I despise FG I really really despise SF.
Is that because you fear the unknown?
No we know Sinn Fein. That’s the problem.
you think you know. that’s the problem
Those ‘smear campaigns’ practically write themselves – bombings, terrorism, murder, kidnappings, disappearings, torture, sectarianism, paedophilia, rape, bank robbing, fuel laundering, revisionism etc, and that’s before you even get to the cynical populism and voodoo economics. You can hardly blame FG for any of that.
I find it extraordinary that Fine Gael & labour apparently have credible information that up to 40 IRA paedophiles and rapists are at large in the Republic yet we have no public inquiry or Garda updates. I also find it extraordinary that the acts of rape and child molestation by paramilitary unionist groups seems to have escaped our governments attention.
They’re not trying to get into government in the Republic.
In fairness, you probably don’t.
don’t you?
are you suggesting that some of the 40 IRA rapists and paedophiles (that on good information are in hiding in the Republic) are seeking election? who are they?
are you also saying that because those unionists that raped and abused done so in the north we should not concern ourselves with their crimes or victims?
Muise, won’t somebody think of the Shinners?
Quick. release a Marie chill story post haste
Tell the cat to chill…
The Sindo should have one ready for tomorrow.
I am surprised Mairia Cahill is not being run as a Labour candidate actually.
Sur tis a handy safe Shinner seat she wants
Ooopppssey
Wanted all along
I mean
Yeah – a woman coming forward telling stories about rape and a cover up by St Gerry. She MUST be a Labour shill.
Defend St Gerry at all costs! Good man.
A dissident republican woman from a family with blood on its hands getting an award from Labour and a free platform from the Sindo is a shill. Unfortunately for them, the whiff of cordite is too strong for the rest of us.
Labour are going to be slaughtered by the looks of things.
The question is how do they even have 8%?
An extra €8 on the childers allowance might help.
8%? Obvious: the extended Quinn and Costello families.
Actually, you couldn’t find a better headline for the what the party has become.
Labour Party in move to penthouse in capital’s docks

Locking itself into an agreement to pay €212K p.a. for two and a half years seems like a bad idea, given that after the next election in less than a year’s time a lot of the current state funding of the party will disappear along with its electoral support. But then again, it’s about the level of cop-on that I’d expect from Labour.
…well..hello Mary Lou
goodbye Joan…
Seeing orange!
Well well well Alfred where are ya now
Is that FF and the Shinners combining to go over 40%
And Government parties less than 35%…
And ta’ think one of ye tried to get Broadsheet to remove my post that predicted exactly that
Howvabout sharing out some’a that Special Advisor money lads?
BUT…. BUT…. BUT…. How can this be? I don’t understand. The whole Same-Sex Marriage Referendum YES vote was to secure Minister for Homelessness Joan Thatcher-Burton’s Labour Party tons of seats in the next GE. None of this makes sense…
I would have thought that a basic requirement for any party in an election was to recognize the existence of this state.
Shinners have sat out the whole recession, just building up their own party. Like FF of old.
Without Labour the marriage equality referendum wouldn’t even be on the agenda.
Nonsense
I would have thought that a basic requirement for any party in an election was to recognize the existence of this state.
Why? Do we really owe the State some allegiance or should the state serve the people and be changed if not fit for purpose? I understood that elections were supposed to be for the people to express their will, not for the state to guarantee its own continuance.
Shinners have sat out the whole recession, just building up their own party. Like FF of old.
True, I wouldn’t trust them as far as I could throw them, but that’s no reason to stick with the current shower. There are other alternatives.
Without Labour the marriage equality referendum wouldn’t even be on the agenda.
That’s the trickle down theory. The parties move to keep up with movements on the ground and try to remain relevant. They don’t stick their necks out and start dishing out progress on human rights out of the goodness of their own hearts. All these things were campaigned for long before our ‘betters’ addressed them.
