should really be LGBTQIA. But. you know. it’s a bit of hassle so noone can handle it

The Acronym has got so ridiculously unwieldy that no one actually knows or can say with any surety what the Q stands for.

It might be Questioning, it might be Queer. Just be thankful the I and H haven’t made it in yet.

The I is there – it’s for intersex (previously known as hermaphrodites).

Isn’t it terrible that they’re not like the RCC and are trying to be inclusive of all those discriminated against? Shouldn’t they just be quiet and accept the false binary reality that the the good men that protect rapists attempt to impose on society in defiance of actual biology?

Ah now now don’t be getting your snot on

I don’t know what the Deal with the jumbled alphabet it either

          And seriously Q
          for questioning????

          Heyyyyyyy
          That could be Ronan Mullen
          Right there

Karl, be as right on and inclusive as you want but the more letters, the more unwieldy and silly it gets

Why not just go ahead and include EVERYONE whether they want it or not. I fully expect you to code in the Wesleyan University term of LGBTTQQFAGPBDSM .

Wesleyan University used the initialism LGBTTQQFAGPBDSM for “lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, transsexual, queer, questioning, flexual,[clarification needed] asexual, gender-fuck, polyamorous, bondage/discipline, dominance/submission, and sadism/masochism”

Im proud to be hetrosexual, where is my parade??? Will they ever let it go, who cares if your gay or perverted or whatever…..always the bloody victims…

you seem to , man its the 2015, you shouldnt be afraid of those inner feelings you have, repressing those natural feelings you have is corrupting how you interact with the community. Its time to acknowledge who you are and come out , you will find people are far more accepting these days. Its ok to be Gay.

Didn’t you read the article on Brendan Smyth? It was on last week up the North

    2. Grace`

Oh no didnt you get the memo? Straight pride will be taking place on the date of…oh wait silly me, straight pride happens EVERY bloody day! Gay issues must be soooo boring for you in your straight male privileged world.

      1. St. John Smythe

Imagine it ….an army of Straight-Pride lads marching down the street in their fetish gear:
striped Rugby-style tops, GAA and Premier League strips, all tucked in with a f**king belt – or an open flannel shirt over a T-Shirt – and sporting cargo-style pants or boot-cut jeans. Or patterned shirts over differently-patterned shorts.
        PERVERTS!!!!!!1

Depends Corky, when have you ever been discriminated against, attacked or ostracised for being heterosexual?

When us heteros have had to hide who we are because society has shunned us, then we can set up a straight pride.. If we did it before that we run the risk of looking like Neo Nazis on their White Pride marches..

One would need to be oppressed first in order to celebrate their continued freedom from oppression.

While Pride parades may no longer seem relevant in western countries. They are symbolic for all those who identify as LGBTQ around the world – who are still and continue to be oppressed.

So open your eyes. There is more at stake than this little island we live on.

There’ll always be a Pride festival I think, it’s bloody GREAT fun.

It’s not the few dozen activists marching down O’Connell Street – it’s families, gays, straights, in betweeners, it’s become so inclusive I think it’s just passed into tradition at this stage as opposed to simply a political event.

      1. rotide

Yeah, now that the last big hurdle is gone, it’s less about ‘awareness’ and more about a kind of patricks day for the gayz. As it should be.

The St Patrick’s parade seems to be a celebration of diversity and inclusion these days but Chinese dragons in the Dublin parade is nuts when you think about it. I suppose it would have died years ago if it didn’t diversify..pardon the pun!

related: Interesting that the margin of victory for SSM here (almost 2:1) was higher than the one in the US (5:4).

So much for people calling Ireland backwards all this time :)

    1. Der

In the U.S. 5 people voted in favour, in Ireland over 1.2 million people voted in favour! Woo!
But obvs not exactly comparing like with like!
