    Greece should be allowed to leave the Euro, Europe should cut its losses, let Greece establish a new currency and then help them by means of standard EU measures, as per Bulgaria and Romania.

        Indeed. Rabble would have come out of this a lot better if they had actually given a decent response to the question rather then just attack the questioner. It just makes them look as if they don’t actually have an answer.

      Didn’t others in commenting make that rather silly assumption? I think people involved with rabble know it’s a badge connected to a contract the police in Ireland have with *redacted* Topaz garages, it’s been like that for years.

      On his ‘fair point’, he is economically-right wing, right? He’s pretty open about it and thoroughly follows the final line of the troika european ‘leaders’, who in an amazing act of what should have been widely recognised as total self-defeat, have effectively and totally shattered the illusion that the ECB is an independent and democratic body. I think pulling the official line of these lunatics isn’t real a fair point. In fact, the very first thing he can think of is not to tax super-wealthy people or at least harmonise taxes so that the hardest working, hardest hit and most dispossessed are not paying a disproportionate amount of taxes compared to very wealthy people, he opts immediately for welfare, health and education cuts. I personally think he’s a psycho, it would have been better to give him no platform at all.

      Greece can’t and never should have been expected to pay for playboys losses, neither should Ireland. I for one have had enough of these rich freeloading wasters.

    I can’t even begin to soak up the stupidity of his statement- where do we want to cut this money out of? It’s already gone, fool! It was already cut out, has he not been keeping up with current events the past 7 years?!? Does he think NOW it’s going to be given to Greece, as a parting gift?

      Normally, with a loan, one expects to get the money back. That’s the whole point.

        Anyone expecting to get that money back was a fool and deserves the loss.

        Giving loans to repay loans to repay loans – always a sound investment. Still expecting to be repaid when the borrowers debt to GDP has almost doubled since the first tranche?

        Have the ECB buy up the debt, we get the money back, then the ECB can extend it for 100 years, sorted.

        We have a central bank in Europe, let’s use it finally. No one deserves to go hungry for imaginary money.

    And Ireland’s legacy debt is somewhere around the €30 billion mark so if there is a EU debt conference that wipes away the €315 million [not €500 million as the FGer says] , by that reckoning we’ll be €29.675 billion up on the game.

      Yup if we told the bondholders in Anglo to go Fupp themselves with a burning hedgehog on a stick, we’d be a lot better off.
      Also, as Quinn boasted ‘we’ll make some money out of this’ when borrowing money, just to lend it to Greece at a higher rate… what a dumb and unprincipled idea that was. No better than the gobshites running Anglo.
