Fianna Fáil Mayo County Councillor Lisa Chambers

Meanwhile at Mayo County Council…

Cllr Seamus Weir told those gathered about of a trip to New York when incoming Cathaoirleach Michael Holmes brought Weir and a couple of other councillors into a hotel to pass the time. A relative of the Tiernaur man was working there.
“We had worked with her in Asahi, and we all had a crush on her,” said Cllr Weir. “She was one beautiful-looking woman,” he gushed. “That woman is my wife’s sister,” Cllr Holmes revealed to Cllr Weir.

…Meanwhile, when congratulating Ballyheane’s Cllr Lisa Chambers on her election as Leas Cathaoirleach, Cllr Patsy O’Brien told her she is ‘a good woman’.
“I went out there (to Ballyheane) 32 years ago and got a good woman too … I know all the women out there are very good.”

She won’t care. She’s dressed like a First Woman in Waiting. She’ll take all the sexism that’s needed to get to the top.

Claiming a female politicians attire makes her sexist is pretty much a case-study in sexist views of lady-politicians, man.

I mean I don’t think Joan cutting the legs out from under lone parents is more egregious because she’s a mammy.

I often wondered what happened to the feminist line of “it’d all be better if women were in power”…

…oh, what’s that… ‘everyone knows its’ bullsh*t, power corrupts and knows no gender’….oh right, grand so… carry on…

People with varying views and those varying views also evolving over time shocker!

Nope, The good people of Ireland pay taxes, then those people elect good councillors, the councillors allocate their budget fairly based on sound analysis of need , then the road crews, paid by the good people, fix the road..

You could almost say we all fixed the road … Im not going to though…

        1. Joe

“sound analysis of need” is vastly different depending on your context

But you agree that part of a councillors role is the allocation of funds to repair roads and other public infrastructure.

Wouldn’t be my style but at least it fits, it flatters and the colours suit her. Don’t think the same could be said for most of the rest of the politicians in Ireland.

What is wrong with calling someone a good woman? Actually, seriously?? Can someone hipslain that to me? She is fragrant and feminine. Good for her.

I dont know if you’re joking but I would really like someone to explain whats wrong with being called a good woman.

It is probably a bit feminising if you happen to be a man. if you happen to be a woman it is probably ok, unless its delivered with a heavy bogger accent or in a wink wink style, then we tend to think it just sounds patronising.
