Broadsheet Trailer Park: Sharknado 3

Sharknado 3

What you may need to know:

1. Ian Ziering and Tara Reid fulfil contractual obligations in SyFy’s latest critique on climate change.

2. Not sure if watching Sharknado  (2013) and Sharknado 2: The Second One (2014) is necessary for context.

3. So this was the script that tempted Frankie Muniz out of retirement?

4. Bo Derek and the Hoff are also on board for the acting equivalent of chugging.

5. In a seriously uncool move, The Asylum decided to shoot Sharknado 3 with a minimum wage, non-union crew. The difference is imperceptible.

6. Broadsheet Prognosis: Proof that you can milk a shark.

There was a good article on Cracked.com recently about a writer trying to get his films made by this crowd. You’d be surprised how seriously they take their films, despite the titles / subject matter.

“As hard as it is to believe, the trademark awfulness of an Asylum movie is purely accidental. I was specifically warned not to make any of my pitches intentionally campy, or to ever seem like I was ‘in’ on the joke. In their minds, there is no joke. The way it was described to me is that they don’t think they’re making bad movies. They’re trying to make good movies. They’re just really bad at it.”

    Well worth a read.

I know someone who was an extra for a few days ‘stuck’ on a rollercoaster behind Jedward. It took a day and a half for him to find out who they were.
