He said civil servants wouldn’t recognize good design unless it costs an exorbitant amount & the tender is eventually awarded to a British company

        1. Delacaravanio

No, he did not, since the question was about the nine requirements, and he didn’t even address them.

Actually he did. He referenced the fact many other groups and indeed professionals were consulted outside the dept narrow pool of civil servants of the working group to decide on the format we use. The working group may have kicked off the process but by no means we’re the final say (and I suspect it was never considered that they would be). Desperate attempts to find a smoking gun for everything these days. As any of the actual professionals have quietly pointed out the Irish System was developed for the unique issues of (boom boom) non unique addresses in Ireland.

          2. Malta

Would it not be good practice to make it clear that he is actually answering the question, if that’s what he’s actually doing? Why be vague and obtuse if not trying to hide anything?

          3. Zoom

What professionals are these then? They must have been very quiet because the private consultants hired by the department backed up the working group’s recommendations and yet still we got something else altogether

  2. Liam Deliverance

Whether he answered the question or not depends on what the 9 requirements were and whether or not the 9 requirements were relevant and should have been included.

    No?

But we actually have a perfectly working property registration system, that actually makes sense, with county codes corresponding to their names.

Shurrup and drink your Coors Light, you pup…

      *Looks lovingly at bottle*

Yes, that cool, crisp mountain refreshment is all I need on this fine evening.

I’d sooner drain the greasy J-cloth sitting in my sink into an old boot and drink it than drink a coors light. In case you were wondering

        1. Mick Flavin

Yes, some Coors Light would go down a treat right now indeed. Barkeep! A pint of Coors Light for me and my thirsty canine friend.

Mmmm, you can taste the Rockies…Sláinte!

If a letter is addressed soley using the code, can An Post sort it electonically and deliver it………………..?

    1. Shanti

That’s all well and good, but do you expect your local postie to memorise every postcode?
It might get sorted, but I can’t see it getting delivered – not unless they write the standard address on it at the sorting office for the deliverers benefit!

“Stakeholder” is a code word for “Vested interests” or sometimes it means “The guys who are going to give me a brown envelope.”.
    I’ll let the reader decide.
