Jamaican standards are closer to Denis’ standards*, or lack of*, when it comes to conducting business with governments, then Irish standards, in fairness…. so, a good match then.

Jamaican Corruption Index Score is 38 ( 85th out of 175 countries) while Ireland’s is 74 (17th out of 175).

( * as was proven in the Moriarty Tribunal when it was found Denis gave envelopes for favours )

      He owns DigiCell.
Its a mobile company that covers most of the carribean.
It employs a lot of people there.

Its easy for us, with all of our “western” “white” privilege to act like that is no big deal, but functioning mobile networks have a massive impact on the economic health of developing countries.

Sneer all you want, but he has done more good for the people in Jamaica and the Caribbean than you will for anybody, ever.

Yes, of course he’s done well for them, but you say that as if no one else would have done it. He just got in their first…. with the money he made here, and then claimed residence in Spain to avoid paying tax on it (the sale of Digifone) which he shouldn’t have had at all because he got it by corrupt means.

It is my opinion that the man is corrupt, the Moriarty Tribunal proved that. He’d not have done his great deed you speak of if the Moriarty had any legal teeth…. he’d have done time if we were in the UK.

It’s my choice not to celebrate corrupt individuals.

i love this line of argument that rich people should be allowed to do whatever they want if their wealth happens to create a few jobs.

give one guy all the money, and the rest of us can get work polishing his golf balls and cutting his lawn.

Not before time either. With what he spends on lawyers here – its about time we stepped up to the plate.
