There is not one tagged bag here (pics above) and there rarely ever is, the smell throughout the general area is disgusting. The prolific illegal dumping is still going on in the northside of the inner city. There seems to be no will or clue as to how to deal with the problem coming from DCC. It’s a nightmare, the inner-city is a byword for neglect and is falling into ruin. I have been sending emails to the council about this since 2012.

Its been like this (and many other streets) since as long as I an remember… dont expect anything to change anytime soon…

  2. Ros

You will see a similar number of bags in the south inner city untagged each week also in the area around grand canal and pearse street. Not just a northside issue.

  3. Jess

Just burn it up to get that smokey smell we all enjoy and let that smoke go into the sky where it turns into stars.

  4. doncolleone

Surely you can’t expect people to pay for disposing of their waste or providing them with running water.

  5. Bingo

I go to Croke Park a lot so I’d pass through this area over the course of every Summer.
Is the bin collection privatised in this deprived area?
“Feed the kids or buy a bin tag?”
I’d feed the kids & feck the litter out too.

I’d be thinking that too but we were getting bags dumped at the front of our estate for a long time and you would always find the usual betting slips, cig boxes, clothing tags, pizza boxes and for some reason, hair dye.

For the past year, some dirty fecking scummer has been dumping little packs of rubbish every 2 days from his car window, along the small lane road. Like he just gathers up last night crap and gets rid of it on the way to work. Love to catch him.

Removing the license plate from a moving car is difficult, but tricking litter boy into a selfie would be impossible – or would it?

  6. Scundered

So let it build up, if you stop cleaning it up they’ll get the message. Either that or put proper effort into finding those responsible.

    1. scottser

ah scundered. bless you for tarring everyone with the same brush. the great ‘they’, one huge, homogenous group who act in concert. yes of course ordinary decent citizens and taxpayers who actually pay for their waste collection should be punished along with those who litter. rats don’t discriminate dude, and neither do you.

DCC have given up on the north inner city, simple as that. They couldn’t be bothered solving the problem and tough luck to anyone living or working there.

Well, they called into me recently to do a survey. It seems they are thinking of bringing back their own bin collection. They end up cleaning the rubbish up anyway.

I like the way that DCC always gets blamed by people rather then the local scumbags who do the dumping.

I’m living in Stoneybatter, and I got a letter a couple of weeks ago saying that authorised DCC agents were going to going door to door to demand evidence that we were putting tagged rubbish and proper recycling bags out. I’m out all day so I’ve no idea if this actually happened or not.

You might film yourself doing it. Make a putting out the bin diary. You could get on TV3.

They pay for nothing except cigs and booze. They cheat the welfare, never do a tap, and then go on anti-austerity marches or pose as case histories for bleeding heart liberal RTE reporters doing features on poverty.

Of course the left liberal media insists we are all somehow to blame for their ‘plight’, every single taxpaying, bin tag-buying, water-charge paying one of us

      1. Mr. T.

You’ll find that many business owners are involved in this illegal dumping too. And most of the people dumping are not what you would call scroungers, they are working, living in private housing and simply don’t want to pay for bins. You’ll also find that middle class tax dodgers cost the state far more than welfare ‘cheats’. It’s almost impossible to cheat welfare so that’s just not a valid argument anymore.

My mate works in Blanchardstown. There’s a chipper a couple of doors up. There’s a bin between him and the chipper.
To cut a long story short… the kids ma says about her own littering, and her kids littering…. “sure I’m keepin’ some fella in a jab ta clean the road and path”.

That’s what you’re dealing with when you’ve a problem like this. Inter-generational fukkwits

    1. Yorick

There’s regularly a fetid stench of human excrement on Clarendon St. Sometimes Clarendon Row as well. Just, while the topic came up… Although, in fairness, I’ve been waiting for an opportunity to say this. Another life goal achieved.

      1. Dong

I can tell the difference in a humaner and a dog by looking ( it’s all in the girth ) but I doubt I could tell by smell.

      1. bubbleandsqueak

Depends on where you are in Ireland – there’s an active community of local volunteers in my area….

    1. Justin

y’see, this isn’t it. It’s not that Ireland or the Irish are dirtier than any other country — it’s just that everywhere else in the developed world the authorities actually bother enforcing the laws.

    1. Neilo

As long as the taxpayer continues to foot the bill for fecklessness among scobes and speculators, it’s folly to expect a different outcome.

  9. Woof

You want to see dumping? Drive a high vehicle (so you get a view of the ditches) up along the Featherbeds. All the ditches are lined with plastic bags and rubbish.

    1. Zarathustra

Exactly, Woof – I know this post is about Dublin, but people who live in cities should take a drive through the countryside to see what people are dumping by roadsides and on private land; personal and domestic rubbish which includes dirty nappies; garden cuttings; childrens’ toys & clothes; mattresses, old duvets, pillows and bed frames; fridges; dead kittens; tyres & and an old tractor grille; drink bottles and cans – and that’s just where I live. But, according to my local Co Co., if you catch someone while they’re doing this you need evidence, and you also have to be willing to go to court to substantiate your proof – thereby making yourself known and putting yourself potentially in a dangerous position; and the thing is, if some people are willing to go to these lengths to hide and discard of their rubbish, they won’t like being caught and they might decide to get their own back. Two years ago, I happened upon people dumping on our land, and within an hour there were two big men at the house advising me not to go to the Gardaí. It’s more serious than many people realise, but what can we do?

You’re just showing off! There’s no cool stuff where I live :-(

  10. Wanchorman

Happens all over Inchicore too. I’d love to carve the skin off the screaming and weeping perpetrators.

    1. All the good ones fly south for winter

You say that about everyone. If it was up to you we’d all be bleeding and screaming.

  11. NB

I bet booze and John Player blue get priority over bin tags. I live in the area and the take aways and pubs do good business . Deprived , I don’t think so. Depraved ….. ?
