Finally.
The first Dublin David Bowie Festival at the Grand Social, Dame Lower Liffey Street, Dublin 1, on January 9-10. Bowie releases his first album in years – Blackstar – on Friday 8th; his 69th birthday.
Pete Murphy writes:
The inaugural Dublin Bowie Festival is a two day event that celebrates the legendary musician’s work through live music, banter, screenings and much more.
We are delighted to kick off the first year with an outstanding guest of honour – Gerry Leonard (Bowie’s Musical Director/Guitarist and Irishman)… Attractions also include…before Bowieoke (Bowie Karaoke) kicks off at 7pm on Saturday, Rebel Rebel hit the main stage with a 2 hour set of all the greatest hits followed by a Thin White Dukes DJ set in the Beer Garden til the wee hours. Sunday sees the Queen Bitch Quiz, where Bowie fans can test their knowledge on everything to do with the man and his music…..
Bowie’s overrated
Take that back sir or I shall see you at dawn.
I’ll bring the pipers!
I’ll take Billie, you can have Rowdy Roddy…
Rowdy’s dead. Pied is available but leave the rats and kids at home.
+1 I’ll finish the job if needs must
Looks good.
‘His first album in years’
All two and a half of them. Hope it’s as good as the next day.
“First album in years” – he released an album a year and a half ago… Years might be technically correct I guess.
If it’s his ‘First DECENT Album In Years’, count me in.
If it’s what I think it is I’ll start where my expectations lie, and that’s ‘Low’

Eh, that was a play on words.
I don’t ever expect Bowie to produce something as funny as ‘Low’ again.
That Eno fella, he must be mad.
His brother was in Roxy Music. Not a lot of people know that.
Roger?

Give Bowie his dues.
He knew who to hang around with.
He lived off others, but he also brought out the best in them.
But then he lost it with Tin Machine.
And the rest…
I used to love Bowie.
I thought I was (Bowie’s
Musical Director/Guitarist andIrishman)I certainly won’t be going to this fiasco, because I saw one of the acts before and wet myself.
Guinness, on a white shirt…don’t ask…
But you should go.
Actually, you know what?
The only Office Christmas Party I can ever remember is the one where the DJ didn’t turn up.
We listened to a cassette-tape of Bowie’s Gt. Hits.
We were grateful.
True Story.
Isn’t David Bowie just old the older version of John Lydon nowadays².
Mea Culpa.
Lydon still has some fire in his soul.
I love him more than I ever loved Bowie, or anybody else, after my kids.
Who were we talking about?
But seriously, seriously….
A Cover-version of a Bowie song can be THIS good.

I still think you should go.
I won’t be there, I promise.
Up all night again commenting on BS? This is getting very frequent.
Sorry, I don’t understand or appreciate your concern.
Two or three times is a week is too much now, is it?
I should stop.
Y’reckon?
You don’t want me during weekdays…
…because this is how you get me during weekdays.
I’m worried for you buddy! I don’t like to think you’re lonely and wasting your wit on the commenters on here!
Owen, I love you.
I could be wrong, but it’s worth a shot;
No messing, I think I do.
I’m obviously wrong, but I think you’re from Tipp.
We met in a public toilet. You ran away, looking teerrified.
It was the light.
I swear it wasn’t that big.
It was the light.
Call me.
Why do you never answer???
Call me.
Go to bed mate.
Oh poop.
I’m going to shut up now.
Mi mind is asplode.
[Broadsheet,, for real. Please leave it, as like a Requiem or a Momomentuminium of the eh…a PRIZE, FOR WHOEVER GUESSES WHAT THE COMPETION IS. THIs site can easily be won.if I am.]
Everything is so simple
This thread was supposed to be about Bowie…
Then you made me think of Fink Plucking Floyd, and feeling old.
…and now I’m thinking of Yes’
‘Nous sommes du soliel’
Back when I were a kid we loved it because it wasn’t as bad as the other stuff they did.
Nobody else did anything.
You couldn’t buy records back then, you had to rob them.
There were no shops. Just gangs.
Marc Bolan was better.
-Did you ever see a woman coming out of New York city with a frog in her hand?
-He did, don’t you know?
-He did, don’t you know?
-It don’t show.
I cannot tease you any longer.
That thing in your head, here it is;
