Seriously though – isn’t most of Tesco’s stock from Britain…including the price tags?
Can’t stand the place.
yup. even worse is that dunnes stores own brand cheese is english too.
Melton Mowbray in Rutland – I’ll never recognise Leicestershire! – has two TGI designations of food exclusivity: pork pies and Stilton. I fascinate myself.
They’re getting better at sourcing Irish food, Hoop, but still miles behind Ze Germans.
Why not post this question to the tesco twitter if you really want to know the answer?
This old chestnut.
The code in the oval just gives the previous link in the supply chain, so English cheese packed in Ireland, or vice versa, is perfectly acceptable.

But it does support Irish jobs. As OP said, Stilton is from the UK. If I’m going to buy Stilton (and I’m going to buy Stilton) is it not better that I get it packaged in Ireland?
Once it says “Packed in Ireland for ” then I just take it that it’s essentially not Irish.
Tesco, where the only thing lower than the price is the quality.
For balance, Wexford brand cheese is labeled UK for the same reasons…..
