Meanwhile…

The Labour Party is promising tax cuts for individuals with incomes of up to €120,000, while those above that figure can look forward to an effective tax freeze.
Tánaiste Joan Burton will seek to entice the middle-class and high earners to her candidates with a series of tax reforms that she says will raise the standard of living.
The latest move to revive Labour’s flagging fortunes in the polls comes in the wake of Fine Gael targeting Labour’s traditional working-class voters with wage subsidies for those on low incomes.

Do you want to get rid of USC or don’t you?
Under 70K, it will be gone, cut for 70-120K, frozen for those over 120K.

Those earning less, pay less, those earning more, pay more.

Sigh… its a coalition. No-body gets all they want.

I guess minimum wage increases, reform of labour relations mechanisms, low pay commission, LGBT rights vindicated, reform of welfare system, job activation & updated apprenticeships, reform in education to focus on literacy, junior cert reform, book rental schemes, protection of DEIS schools, 2 billion to social housing, reduction in bankruptcy term to 1 year, introduction of Garda Authority, cut in USC kicking in, modest increase in pensions, generally ending austerity and not to mention putting the country back on its feet doesn’t cut it?

I have to laugh at the “end of austerity”, we’re a nation under huge amounts of debt and a pension ponzi scheme time bomb that no one wants to talk about.

Not to mention it’s an end to austerity that shifted wealth out of the hands of the middle class and into the pockets of the richest people in the country, and has left us with record homeless on the streets, including many families.
