I’ll be squeezing that little facto into the next pub quiz!
Ah that Fasso still – it just draws you in….
I am glad I saw Room before I saw this video. I enjoyed the movie, haven’t heard of his other stuff.
There were about 6 movie posters on the wall of the cinema, in Melbourne. Michael Fassbender, Saoirse Ronan, Lenny Abrahamson and Emma Donohue featured.
Give ‘Adam & Paul’ a go. It’s a great wee Dublin indie flick!
“I wiped me hole with a tayto bag”.
A beautifully dark and funny movie.
It is great, and on YouTube.
Preferred Garage, absolutely brilliant film. Am convinced most didn’t watch it as they though it would be Pat Shortt being Pat Shortt. Couldn’t be further from the truth.
Garage is a lovely movie. I like it equally to A&P, but for different reasons :)
Adam and Paul successfully escapes the narrow and unhelpful characterisation of an “Irish film” – it’s an excellent film, regardless of where it was made, and can hold its own internationally, I think.
I hope Room is too.
Room is remarkable
Am I allowed to say I didn’t. Child was very well directed ( hats off to the director) but I was disappointed on a whole. Very American , ueber sanitised. Second half was predictable TV fare and William H Macy was seriously underused. I have ordered the book though and am looking forward to reading it.
The official Irish Groupthink on Irish Film and the Oscars starts now.
Do not deviate from blind adoration and nationalism.
Are you working as a projector now?
You are a Dictator’s wet dream.
@Tish
All over the World, people like to see their countrymen/countrywomen do well. I am in Australia, there is a lot of hype when Aussies get nominated for Oscars. I know it is all a load of tosh, part of the Hollywood hype/marketing. I know that the best movies are usually made a long way from Hollywood.
I see a difference between liking local movies and being ripe for being ruled by a dictator. The comments here show a diversity of views.
everybody is a global citizen these days it seems. Its so cliché.
I suppose all it really takes is a decent internet connection…
and the absence of any other sort of life.
I liked the video. Keep up the good work Stephen
Interesting, Thanks for this.
Apologies for potential offence to Stephen, but these videos would be so much better if narration were delegated to someone else. The nasal, preachy tone with transatlantic emphases is very offputting and overshadows the thoughtful content. Your writing and directing would make more of an impact if you didn’t also insist on starring! Kindly meant.
