Meanwhile, in Wexford
A Wexford Soc Dem candidate Leonard Kelly-festooned BMW.
Yours for €4,500 and a first preference.
The Most Politically Experienced LPG BMW 525i EVER (DoneDeal)
Thanks Desmond
Eddie Durkan from the Hardy Bucks is looking very respectable on the left.
No SD candidate in my area… :-(
Move house.
The closest thing to a SocDem in my area is Clare Daly…
Christ.
Brendan Ryan is the closest thing
so: Narrow the tax band yet again? Irish people are idiots.
It’s notable that they plan to keep the Capital Gains Tax exemption for property (PPR) – another middle class sop. Radical? Nope
Judging from 5 years ago, Irish people may well indeed be idiots. Hopefully we’ll get it right this time eh?
How can we possibly ‘get it right’ this time?
The only hope for a stable government we have is the inevitable FF/FG coalition….
…and 2 wrongs do not make a right.
Yeah, that’s the mantra I’ve been hearing from people who are going to vote for the same old FF, or FG. It’s pretty sad. The way I see it, the people who are doing so are doing ok at the moment health-wise & financially, and aren’t too concerned about the people who aren’t, & that’s their idea of stable.
Then there’s the people who say I’m not going to vote for SDs (for example) because they haven’t a hope of getting anywhere with so many voting for FF or FG, probably realising a big part of the reason for that is other people thinking the same way, while not getting the big picture at all.
The point is that they are not radical.
They are trying to present an electable left party.
I don’t know. The anti corruption direction has been serving them well. If they stick to their guns on that as they have been doing, that’s pretty radical as far as this country is concerned.
emailed Stephen Donnelly – why didn’t attend finance committee when SIPO etc attended,a week b4 he launched Anti-corruption plan -no reply
No working class people own homes then.
Right you are….. ffs
normally id take offence at someone branding all irish people as idiots .. but asides Quimbys point, other signs point to it being true .. most notably for me, the fact that FF are 2nd most popular party according to the polls. That’s just one example why, I could list off numerous others but im so tired of being angry at Irish politics. I actually give up.
I like the idea of cutting the cost of living via reducing the cost of services rather then giving tax cuts. better for everyone, not just the better off. ill prob give my local fella a vote
Is this the alternative? Reminds me of me Irish mammy.
Your mammy exposes fraud, corruption, stroke politics and short-term thinking for a living? Fair play to her.
She’s barman.
FFS.
ahem.
She’s Batman
No, that was Bruce Waaaayne.
I thought everyone’s Mammy does that
Yer ma
Was going to vote Soc Dem first no candidates in my area then secondly I heard Stephen Donnelly say that school equality wasn’t really a big issue so that kind of put me off them.
hmm where did he say that heres his submission in preperations on the admission bill (which was never passed by LP/FG) https://www.education.ie/en/Parents/Information/School-Enrolment/Personal-and-Other-Submissions/03-Stephen-Donnelly-TD.pdf
They have mine & many other people’s vote.
+ 1
Catherine should have started the video like this: insanity is often the logic of an accurate mind overtasked. Oliver Wendell Holmes, Sr.
And this song is playing > https://youtu.be/eg3F4zpOdK8
Unfortunately the title of the party is too similar to the founding father’s Social Democratic Party in Germany in the 1920/30s for my liking. The SDLP pulled it off in ‘The North’ during the 1980/90s, but that’s because they had Nobel prize winning John Hume at the helm. In my opinion, Ireland has always been a two party (free) state. The dilution of votes to the two main parties at the last election is a clear indication that Irish voters are generally underwhelmed by choice. It’s all about leadership, I don’t see any De Valeras (1916/2016 thing). Bertie, notwithstanding all his ‘foibles’ was a good Taoiseach. He was charismatic and affable, oh and a Dub! Enda Kenny has been to Jones’s Rd on the third Sunday of September every year, cheering on his Mayo team, who never “bring home Sam”. Bertie sees the Dubs win, viewing the match from a corporate box on the Hogan Stand. My point? – (Goddammit, FF pull your socks up!) is that I’d like to see a Taoiseach with a winner’s grin on the third Sunday in September.
That was a mouthful there Shayna
And you’re spot on
Why da’ ûck the Soldiers of Destiny haven’t told their Comhairle Dáils to climb up the arse of the Constituency Shinners is beyond me.
That Gimp Martin is making the same mistake as he did in the Presidential.
He’s letting the Shinners be the Republican party,
And the Nationalist party,
All on their own
Play nice
Get their transfers
Eh… no.
