Yeah. That’s what the world needs. More people sticking their heads down and ignoring suspicious behaviour.

      1. TheDude

Its a service to the community – once its all posters and not just selected ones. The Dude for one welcomes the liberation of Blackrock poles.

      1. Walter-Ego

Why not ring the Gradai and report suspicious behavior. Even if they are too under resourced to deal with it and ‘send a car around’. It’s not your problem anymore, you’ve done your bit.
        No need for a confrontation.

Organised anti democracy bullying…..a large number of posters on a long run of main street balbriggan were methodically slashed at the top so they would flop down covering the name and face on the poster. …aimed and targetted at fg posters labour posters ff posters….all other posters untouched !!! DEMOCRACY ????

      1. ahjayzis

They’ve just wrapped up balloting for the 2007 election in Mayo if I’ve got my East/West time dilation calculations correct.

  2. Gaoithe

God bless them. It makes me sob to see those smiling prosperous tanned newly-hairstyled well-fed faces smirking down from every pole, with their subliminal message “Vote for me me me, serf”.

  3. Jake38

I’m sure the smily-faced non-threatening female Gaelscoil national teachers the Shinners have recruited to run in Dublin would know nothing about that.

    1. ahjayzis

Imagine, running an inordinate amount of teachers.

It’s not like we’ve been ruled by a council consisting of 3 out of 4 out of work teachers for the past 5 years.

The van is a rental so it would suggest a party that doesn’t have access to work vehicles, or ssshould that be vehiclessss

    1. Kieran NYC

      Totally agree.

If this is their concept of democracy, I wonder what their ‘peaceful protests’ are like…

      Oh wait.

      1. Fergus the magic postman

Has there been anti democracy protests?
(The anti water charge protests weren’t anti-democracy, just in case that is your angle. They were anti water charge ,for some part, as well as anti quango/ cronyism/ corruption for the most part. Just because a democratically elected Government was responsible for said quango/ cronyism/ corruption does not make the protests anti-democracy).

        1. Nigel

What protests? I’m talking about taking down election posters which candidates for election are legally entitled to use to promote their run for office. Interfering with people’s efforts to be part of a democratic election is anti-democratic, whatever the motives or intentions for doing so, however ignoble the candidates or disillusioned with politics you might be.

        2. Rob_G

Preventing elected representatives from going about their daily business sounds a bit anti-democratic to me…

    2. ahjayzis

Agreed on the posters are a pain and this is theft – but it’s hardly anti-democratic. No one is deprived of rights by stealing election posters. If it was stealing election posters excluding one party you might have a point.

      1. bob

It is anti-democratic… it’s all of FG, FF, Lab and Green being taken. The rest are left.

Even if it was all posters it’s pretty questionable. Petition to make your area poster free or something. But the parties with more resources will get posters back up quicker than smaller parties, so that’s unfair I think.

I read something in the last week about some town declaring themselves a ‘Poster-Free’ zone in the run up to the election.
It met a very favourable response.
(Sorry that I can’t be bothered to find it. You’ll just have to take me word.)

Posters are litter from a bygone era, and a total eyesore.
    They should be banned, totally.

    1. Tom

Sorry that I can’t be bothered to find it. You’ll just have to take me word.

      It was easy to find;

This is a local site, for local eejits.

      Indeed.

        1. sǝɯǝɯʇɐpɐq

          This site..?
The actual ‘time continuum, contimminioum, continininuam…

          I give up.

    1. sǝɯǝɯʇɐpɐq

  7. Ultravox

Someone needs to tell those YES:EQUALITY debate-chiller #hometovotebutnotpaytaxes supporters that there is no overtime.

    1. sǝɯǝɯʇɐpɐq

      Ultrafupp
Your pseudonym of ‘Ultravox’ is either a bastardisation of English and Latin uncaringly mashed into one with no meaning, or a reference to a piss-poor Glaswegian beat-combo with no meaning.

      You can only choose one.

  8. sǝɯǝɯʇɐpɐq

    Oh Vienna, my effing hole.
Ain’t nobody got time for dat dese daze.

You wanna widen your knees, catch some bees, rejoin the human race and take that slap off your face baby.

    Be a winner.

    Attitude.

  9. sǝɯǝɯʇɐpɐq

    I don’t care….

Holy whatever, Christ , Damn or F***…
Or Holy F***ing Damn F**ing Fuck.

Why are the rest of you so F***ing retarded?

There is a band called ‘The Fall’.
They are better than any band you wasted your pathetic time listening to.

You are saying ‘YES’ because you are as stupid as fupp.
The band you like will die from mediocrity. They are pathetic.
THEY know who The Fall are.
They copy one Fall album forever.
The Fall are a new band every year, and you should be scared.
    Your heroes are.

    FU.

  10. Truth in the News

Its illegal to fix posters on ESB and Telephone poles, anyways its time the
practice was stopped as tax payers money is is used to finance political
parties, indeed the idea is waste of resources and money, is there a recycling
levy on the plastic posters similar to that on farm plastic
Indeed they are counterproductive as they remind at lot of voters of who they
    will not be voting for.

    1. scottser

they’re great for making unfair comparisons though. anyone else think maria bailey looks like audrey from coronation street?
