Liggy Stardust writes:

Still in mourinng for David Bowie I came upon this live version of the great man [singing Rebel Rebel] at The Point, Dublin in 2004. Listen to what he has to say right at the end [in Irish]. Up the Republic. Vote Sinn Dáme…

Apparently there was a roadie (or bouncer?) who told him it meant something else as a bit of divilment

Bowie didn’t know what he’s saying. He was a Unionist, he told the Scottish people not to vote for Independence. And during his Nazi-saluting phase, Bowie was constantly going on about how great the British Empire used to be.

      just to the first point:
apparently being for unity of all the countries on one island (misguided or not this opinion my be) does not necessarily mean you believe in occupying a portion of another island.

That’s like claiming I once said I’m against them building a new bridge in Kilkenny, therefore you assume I must be against them building an unrelated new bridge in Longford.

Why does he get a pass for this? Genuinely interested. And no, “it was a different time” is not a valid excuse as we see from other historical cases coming up now.

Written by a “feminist” no doubt.
Any tinge of jealousy here at all ? Perhaps not.
Its all Horseapples I says !
The job spec of a rockstar is as follows.
:deflowering of virgins (male or female, rock stars choice).
      :copious ingestion of narcotics.
      :copious ingestion of alcohol.
      :bash out the odd “anthem”
:retire (if not already dead from one or a combination of the above)
      :rinse
      :repeat

Speaking as a Bowie fan, I always did find it disconcerting that he never set foot in England after the Saville affair broke

You don’t have to be a “feminist” to be against having sex with kids.

Funny how it’s was fine for Bowie and Page etc but not ok for R Kelly and others. Complete double standards from those happy to let their heroes off.

If he did it, you know, fupp’im, buuuuut, she says in that piece that she was 15 when she lost her virginity to him but was supposed to have been sleeping with Jimmy Page when she was 13 sooooo…..
