For all the talk of YFG and Israeli shills, this is the only actual ad I’ve ever seen for professional shilling.

    1. Declan

They all probably have “Social Media” teams to be fair but this is blatant everyone one agree with us because you know “Peace Process” and “main stream media”

  2. DubLoony

OMG – we knew they were there but this is a whole new dimension.
Oh, this calls for new emails to be set up and a volunteer to take one for the team!

    1. DubLoony

During #GE16 standard shinnerbot retorts were:
      1. You are all liars / traitors
      2. I was brought up in Derry / W’Belfast & you know nothing. (Child of the Troubles, even though 18 yrs old)
      3. Personal abuse – especially if female.
      4. No actual engagement with policies / debate / alternate solutions.
      That’s about it really.

      1. Harry Molloy

        It goes beyond online too.

The reception Lucinda got at the count centre, whether you love her or loathe her, was a disgrace.
The campaign of complaints against RTE from SF supporters a reported by Broadsheet.
They’ve even turned on Coppinger accusing her of somehow giving her transfers to Joan Burton instead of the SF fella from the same constituency (ffs….)

But worse of all, shouting loudest on every bloody issue where rational discourse is what is really warranted

        1. DubLoony

Agreed. but its not just them.
AAAanti-everything screaming at politicians, just yelling over them at every possible occasion has become the norm in some areas. Dublin South Central, am looking at you.
Disagree all you want, ballot is secret but the behaviors is debased.

      2. Zarathustra

I haven’t been on the journal in a couple of years, but there used to be a commenter called Shinnerbot/ Shinner O’ Bot whose parody of shinner rhetoric was witty, clever and a bit too close to the bone for some on occasion.

  3. Danny

Mairia Cahill and her merry band of Labour RNU trolls, assisted by the Irish Times approved troll PopulistWatch were much worse than the Shinners.

  4. ahjayzis

Someone referred to Gurry as ‘President-for-Life’ during the week and it totally hit the spot.

I’ve time for a few of their TDs, but Gerry’s a joke, his continuation as boss makes no electoral or political sense.

    Culty culty culty.

  5. Condescending Nana

possibly the same crowd shouting “bluershirt” whenever a dissenting opinion is aired, thats when they are not busy posing with white shirts and black ties as wannabe fascists at the funerals of fellow crimi—republicans

      1. ahjayzis

That’s all well and good but where would we be without the Crimi-Republicans when the Commie-Nazi’s are at the gate, eh?

  6. sǝɯǝɯʇɐpɐq

I didn’t know you had to sign up.
I thought I was already a member (by aFrillyation.)

      1. The People's Hero

Yeah. Was being a bit rhetorical there! The Green jumper and black berets are probably getting a good dust down as I type….. Might be a good time to order up a bunch of balaclavas on Alibaba!!!!

  7. Mark My Little Words He'll Be Back in RTE in 12 Months

Nothing that Una Mullally and her confederates in the Irish Times haven’t been doing for the Labour Party. And boy, did that go well.

    1. Caroline

So wait, the formula is: woman’s name + Labour Party + Irish Times.

Gotchya. Think I’m ready for this.

      1. sǝɯǝɯʇɐpɐq

Can I just copy off you Caroline?
I wasn’t paying attention earlier on.

I still haven’t gotten over the shock of finding out that you have to sign up.
What’s wrong with freelancing all of a sudden?

          1. Baz

No, Shinners object to job bridge because it tied up dole heads in productive activities when they should have been shillin for Shinners

      2. Mark My Little Words He'll Be Back in RTE in 12 Months

@caroline the confederates have girls’ names and boys’ names too. The point is she is a shill, agenda-ridden bore who helped cost @Labour the election with her #marref “human rights issues of our time” cr@p. I’d like to see her knock on the doors of Fatima Mansion with that guff.

        It’s about the economy stupid.

  8. Caroline

I see Ivana Bacik and the D4 ivory towers brigade in the Labour Party have been using the Irish Times as their personal trolling machine again.

  9. Caroline

Typical attack style of the Irish Times middle-class gossiptariat no doubt ably assisted by Ruth Coppinger and her new besties in the Labour Party (I spit on their name).

  10. Caroline

Hardly surprising that Broadsheet along with gal pal Anne Marie McNally having been sorely disappointed by their former buddies in the Labour Party have gone for Irish Times-style political discrediting.

      1. Caroline

I would love to know. It nearly has to be, because it’s so perfectly pitched to ring certain bells. But then again…

        1. Harry Molloy

But it’s not. It’s on their own website. So how is this biased attacking, all the article does is point to the SF website.

This is a perfect example of the typical SF attack when any commentary isn’t 100% complimentary.

A perfect example of why the vast majority of the country will never vote SF. Bunch of knackers.

    1. Declan

I really hope you’re a troll because otherwise you need to hand in your notice to the head of the SF media unit.

If you’ve bothered to read the comments, let alone the articles you’ll find Broadsheet voters are pretty much more lefty than your typical SF cuman meeting. And by lefty I don’t mean misdirection, misery porn and won’t pay – I don’t care crowd.

Most of these people while I disagree with a lot of them, they at least bother there arse to try and broaden their view and support it (except Zuppy – but I’ve got a soft spot for that bill dodging puppy).

Rant over, long day : (

          1. Caroline

            Don’t worry Declan.
It could happen to the best of us.
(You’re not the best of us, but let’s not quibble.)

I’m actually about a quarter of the posters on this site.
-It hasn’t done anything for the ratings.

          2. Caroline

            Wait, I take that back.
I wish they would still let you smoke upstairs on buses.

-I don’t smoke myself, but it created a more hospitable atmosphere.

Back to work, all of you.

  11. makedoanmend

Mutual admiration commentatorship in spades. Do yeese sit around all day waiting for Shinner articles? It’s always the same cadre of the commentatorship providing the same slim diet of opinion and screed. Yeese kind of remind me of the old no surrender crowd crossed with Pravda’s relentless doctrinaire ideological out spouting. Isn’t there some MSM outlets in which yeese could do some paid work? Anti-SF diatribes for jobs bridge is getting a bit stale.

    1. ReproBertie

Spare us the phony victimhood. 45 comments (at the moment) means this isn’t even the most commented on topic this afternoon.

    2. ahjayzis

Can yeese either speak the ruddy Queen’s English on this website or jolly well trot off and found yeeeeeeeer own Social Nationalist website or whatever the fudge yeeeeeeeeeezzzzarrr, please.

  12. Jake38

Hilarious. Read about “media bias” analysis in an Phoblacht! You couldn’t make this stuff up.

    Be very afraid.

  13. Paddy

Fair play to them. The unemployed trolls and shills from the party formerly known as the Double Digit Liebour ‘party’ can apply. Though their CVs won’t be that overwhelming. Failed FG ones can also apply though their chances are minute as well

  14. Old Bawn

The graphics need more work. I thought the Shinners didn’t like Red Hands.

Maybe they just don’t like Red Hands in Ulster. On a par with policies being inverted 180 degrees either side of the border, I suppose.

  15. some old queen

You will have plenty of opportunities to post anti SF topics once the show gets on the road but picking on an advert to get young people involved is definitely not one of them. I could be more critical than most of the anti SF posters but there is a bigger picture and they are just doing what all the other parties do.

SF are now the main opposition and unless you (Broadsheet) want to become another one of those fluffy click sites, I suggest you play the ball not the man. And I know what I am talking about, I like balls, and men, and football kit over jockstraps. Ok I’ll stop there.

    1. The Old Boy

It’s a post about a Sinn Féin advertisement effectively asking supporters to attack content they see as unfavourable to the party on sites such as this and many others. As any Broadsheet, or dare I say it, journal.ie regular will know, this can be very much about playing the man and not the ball, together with a hefty dose of whataboutery.

      1. some old queen

When did the word ‘attack’ only apply to SF? This is a srt8 up political advert asking young people to challenge opposing views. It is honest in it’s intent. The rest not so much… yet.

        1. Harry Molloy

all broadsheet have done is show the ad, whats the problem with that?

          typical aggressive shinner….

          1. Sheik Yahbouti

Ah, get over yourself Molloy – I recognise you from that other forum. Same old, same old. Any disagreement with your point of view is an “attack”.

          2. Harry Molloy

            what other forum?

No one is attacking me, SOQ was suggesting Broadsheet were attacking when all hey did was provide a link to a SF ad.

Typical SF diversions from yourself , ha?

        2. The Old Boy

We can quibble over how one man’s attack is another’s honest challenge. By their fruits ye shall know them.

        3. Rob_G

In the age of smartphones, how could it possibly be quicker to type ‘str8’, rather than ‘straight’?

  16. Truth in the News

Armalite, Ballot Box and Keyboard, have Sinn Fein become as paranoid as the
media is about them, first thing they need to do is ditch this web portal, and forget
about trying to control and manipulate public opinion.
The Public know well, there is a media bias aginst them with years and if they want to make real political progress, all they have to do is retire Gerry Adams, its as simple as that and continue with shafting Kenny, Burton and Martin

  17. Kieran NYC

    Lesson 101.

Repeat after me: “I, cateGORically, deny ever having engaged in an orchestrated campaign, online OR otherwise, against the tyrannical occupying mainstream media. I have not now, nor never have I been, a member of SinnFein.ie and I’ll remind you, that….etc, etc”
