Tesco workers at a Mandate conference in Galway last month

What do we want?

An answer.

When do you want it?

NOW!

Jack Ascinine writes:

So all the staff and members of the Oireachtas just received an email this morning inviting them to a presentation this Thursday by Mandate Trade Union in regards to the churning conflict between Tesco corporate and their employees (didn’t know there was one to start with).

With all of the talk about LUAS strikes and Transdev negotiations and the Minister for Transport not wanting to get involved, how is it that Mandate Trade Union not only gets a forum to present to all Oireachtas TDs and staff, but actually get to present WITHIN Leinster House facilities itself?

Who secured this slot for Mandate? Is Tesco corporate going to get their slot secured for presenting their rebuttal as well (every little helps)?

Anyone?

I think the Tesco workers deserve to have an opportunity to ask politicians how the proposed cuts to their pay and conditions will keep the recovery going.

I know but the Government seems concerned to keep the recovery going. Maybe they can explain how Tesco is playing their part because for the life of me I can’t see it.

and it will be the government that will need subsidise those tesco corporate cuts to workers wages with social welfare family income supplements

Low paid workers have far too much influence over politicians. It’s about time someone stood up to this tyranny of the poor. Foreign billionaires no longer know where their next bailout is coming from.

Won’t someone please think about Tesco? Why is this being published? Who is Jack Ascinine and how do we know he isn’t working for Tesco?

Hear, hear. We desperately need to redress the power balance between the all-powerful poorly paid employees and their neutered, sidelined multi-billion pound employer.

Just who are the TD’s above in Dublin representing? People or corporations? CORPORATIONS ARE PEOPLE TOO. Bloody unions stealing time from the poor tobacco lobbyists and health insurance reps.

They’re actually super people. Regular people face consequences when they kill / poison / abuse other people.

I’ve wonder if it would be legally possible to section a corporation in the US, seeing as they are essentially sociopaths.

Most union members just stand outside and scream at empty railings. I suppose it is a step up. But, if you can’t even get them into the Dail chamber, how do they expect to get them into a conference room? There’s not even a cash bar available.

Or Sinn Fein, in their ‘aping AAAPBP’ guise.

Or FF, in their ‘aping Sinn Fein’ guise. lol

          never Labour.

          talk? to… poor… people?
not just at them in condescension about how they’re bad at being working class?

          bad proletarian! bad!
